1 big drive vs 2 or 3 little drives

I'm trying to plan a htpc/server and wondering about 2 basic methods of doing the storage: 1x3.5" 1TB 'greenpower' drive, WD or Samsung 3x2.5" 350GB laptop drives, or even 2x500GB obviously the little drives will cost a lot more, but which option is better for power, heat, noise and reliability? I'm...

good 1st impressions

I got an AC S1 from Overclockers.co.uk for my 6800gs and it's very good. It's not too hard to fit - the black plastic clips were the fiddliest bit. In my setup I have a big 220mm fan in the side panel which i had to move to the outside cos this cooler is so big  The airflow from the side inta...

cheers for the tips Felger! I have an old Antec Trupower 380 with 2 fans. Taken out the rattly 80mm and kept the quieter 92mm (didn't have to snip as it has proper connectors). I've used alu tape liberally to block holes and shepherd airflow towards the PSU. General temps are great; I guess i better...

I saw the wobble when looking at the outer edge of the blades, but it's no big deal i think. It must have sustained the cracks in airmail, but again it's hardly a showstopper. I think I might do away with the grille and instead build a side panel/baffle similar to Bluefront's ( http://www.silentpcre...

Doing a bigger hole like the 220mm one isn't difficult with a rotary tool, it just takes a while! I did it by gently scrubbing back and forth over a one-inch arc at a time, handle of the tool lined up across the centre point of the circle.

I just got the Performance-PCs 'Works Power' version shipped to UK. Turned up fine, no problems with shipping or packaging. The build quality is a bit shoddy really. It has cheap-looking, slightly iffy moulding design - some of the 'spoke' arms (not sure what they're called) had fractures where they...

I saw them on Maplin website. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?TabID=1&ModuleNo=97188&doy=20m4 Yup, I think that's for a whole case though, not just the fan. There's another thread on SPCR about this that mentions they are more like 220mm, so should fit the 4x120mm space in Doors' case pretty ea...

You can get 250mm fans from Performance PCs in the US, which i'm sorely tempted to do. Anyone know if they can be found in the UK?
