I certainly don't envy the position of organising it all, but I'm looking forward to seeing things progress. :)

Great to see the sponsors pulling their weight. :D

If they can do it, then surely I can afford another $25 donation. ;)

The older GA-MA69GM-S2His on the Thermalright motherboard compatibility list for the Ultra Extreme and the layout for the GA-MA78GM-S2H is basically the same, so I reckon you're safe if you decide to go with that.

I'd agree that there is no reason not to go with the full sized ninja.
I might be a little biased as I have one

I don't think you really have to tone down the CPU considering you will need to replace the stock cooling to achieve decent noise levels. widowmaker mentions the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme, which I imagine should fit into that setup without any problem. The Mini Ninja you mention shouldn't be a ...

It doesnt matter if its good or not. Its TT. Everything they do is a direct rip-off of every other major company. They have nothing original. They leech off other great company's to make a buck. Their buisness ethics are garbage. This for example, looks amazingly similar to the old Zalman 7000/7700...

0.1% is quite small, I'm sure we can do better guys! :D Might have to see if I can scrape together another donation. (By the way, I think the high number of UK donors might have something to do with the exchange rate. I don't know what the other currencies are like, but it's still about $2 to the po...

As a poor man, I am only able to make a $25 donation. I would like to have donated more, but every little helps. I keep a close eye on things going on at SPCR, even though I don't really post on these forums much. It is a great source of reliable information for many and anything to make that better...

I can see three MSI PSUs listed on Newegg. Two of them have UL numbers which point to MSI themselves (not much use) and one has a UL number which points to "L & C TECHNOLOGY INC", not someone I've heard of before. Also, while all three are listed as APFC, only one has full range input (the 600W vers...

That's a helpful link :) I've started a thread on the Overclocking forum I frequent to try to collect examples of systems running from lower powered PSUs. If you know of any good examples then it would be helpful to post them :) So far I've had one guy measure his power draw from this system: Optero...

Well done for jumping in and proving you can run a supposedly 'high power' system from what most would call a 'low power' PSU :) I'm also trying to discourage the need for huge PSUs at the overclocking forum I frequent. Unfortunately I don't have the money to build a top of the line system in the fi...

I have a 9W bulb in my room and I tend to turn that off when I'm sitting at my computer (I have a CRT which I can't really afford to replace at the moment). So you're sitting in the dark in front of the monitor? Not a good idea. You may save a few dollars on your electricity bill only to spend hund...

Well, at least it makes the "low" wattage psus a little cheaper... I think every home should have a wattage readout LCD on every outlet. That way, people could understand how much each of their appliances are using up. I still find it amazing that some people have dozens of 100W light bulbs in thei...

I think it's also worth noting that the system that draws over 600W is a AMD Quad FX based system, which is extremely rare and not really a viable platform in general. The Intel system in comparison uses less than 500W. Unless you are looking at a Quad SLi system, then 1000W still seems rather unnec...

I going to disagree with you on that one. Ultra got a bad reputation from the early PSUs it put out (with good reason), but a lot of their more recent PSUs have improved dramatically. (They use far better quality OEMs nowadays) xClio, while maybe not at the top end of the quality tree, the ones list...

Well I can't think of anything off the top of my head. I personally don't know why you would want to get rid of the corsair just because it doesn't match (I think it would look alright in a silver case anyway). What are you powering with this anyway? The closest thing I can think of to the corsair t...

I've been a long time lurker here at SPCR and I've finally registered an account so I can start posting on the forum. It's an interesting article in my opinion, and at least it's message is in the right direction. People who rush out to buy the newest, fastest stuff can easily fall into the trap of thinking they need the ridiculously overpowered power supplies. I can't really blame them, what with the VGA manufactu...
