I'm not sure if anyones mentioned this.. too lazy to read it all, but, two things. first of all it'll void your warranty or return because the chipset is fragile, doesn't have a shim, and most aftermarket heatsinks are big and a dunce could easily fracture the chipset. that being said... ive replace...

Idle temps with the same ambient temperature? From a neutral perspective, the one thing most people miss when giving temperature readouts is that ambient plays a huge role in cpu temps.

phew, I'm glad you're not going to put a crummy $40 processor [celeron 420] in such a nice case on such a nice motherboard. The E6750 should be perfect. :P

8600gt is probably the card for you. You can probably run that passive with the hr03 and get back to your two fan optimal setup.

the majority of the noise is probably coming from the harddrives. those 501ljs are much louder than say, a nexus 120mm fan at 12v.

the p5k is noted as being an absurdly hot motherboard compared to other p35 mobos. Not sure why that's the case. My -personal- opinion is that Asus just sucks these days ;-)

and yeah, your cable management skills I give an F---. heh.

actually, those little scythe fans are quite effective. I had one on a swiftech MCX159 northbridge cooler on a 650i chipset............... without the fan, it heated up to >60C. With the fan, it stayed around 45. So....... 13CFMs gotta account for somethin ;) My conclusion. An insignificant amount o...

does the v1000 plus whatever have those circular cable holes cut in by default? you ever find a way to stop the v1000 from rattling with optical drives? Maudio makes damn fine soundcards.
