According to WD official specs the EARS edition should be more quiet! So i don't think it's any louder, probably users 'want' to hear some difference? The EARS tend to have less problems with the head parking however i read because of this it draws more power in idle... I just want most bang for the...

Which would be more quiet: the Samsung F1 320/640 or this drive? I read in the recommand HDD section that MikeC stated : "Heavy users who want to avoid seek noise will probably prefer the Western Digital, but users whose drives spend most of their time in idle may prefer the smoother idle noise of t...

What bothers me the most : the actual 500 rpm is kept only until +- 25% of the psu load instead of the promised 50%!

This probably means too that with lower wattage models this point is reached early and not so quiet after all...

Any thoughts concerning this problem?

michael, is your needed wattage higher than 50% of the PSU load?

That could explain it because till 50 % load the rpm would stay 500.

However i think that's just marketing BS because in mike's review the rpm already rises at 200 W output (200/625 = 32%) which is far from the stated
50%...

The Modu82+625 is quiet but a lower model might not be representable. In comparison the noise will be probably higher when you use 150-200 Watt of the 385-425 v...

Wolfdale stock fan?

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a E8400. Now my question is if it's possible to make the stock fan quiet with f.e. gigabyte's easytune or asus' q-fan ?

Any ideas how many rpm's the fan should spin for +- 22 dBa or does it become to hot for that?

5 volt question?

Hi,

Normally red (5v) to red and black to one of the black's is 5 Volt...

But my 120 mm fan wouldn't start then, now i did yellow to red and red to yellow and i kept the both black's, what kind of voltage is that? Also 5V ?

thanks!

I got a CM extreme power duo 650 watt and it's also noisy as hell...

I also thought it was defective but the one they gave me was also so loud!

Those extreme power series are just rotten (although i here positive things about the 380/430 watt range)!
