cmthomson - How come your temps are so high @ 3.2ghz? Even in Orthos blend that's high. Is it because you run your fans super low for less noise & the insulated case?

For all of you who are interested in how OC effects temps here's some shots at 333x9 Idle and Orthos load. I have been using these settings and playing Oblivion, using photoshop etc. and it only raises up a hair over the temps in the idle shot. So far I love this board. Stable, cool, quiet and fast....

Also, no squealing coils on this board under load or idle. This is huge to me considering I just gave up on the DFI 965-s because of it's whine.

A lot of stock cooling is just plunked on with thermal tape. I like to replace or reseat them always. When you ditch the old boards it's not a bad idea to pop off and keep the sinks. You can dice them up and use them on mosfets etc..

The p35 was rumored to be a cooler 65nm chipset. Maybe x38 will be 65nm.

P35 is 90nm. When comparing the power consumption results for p35, understand that some of those articles are referring to P35/DDR3 power consumption. Power consumption for DDR2 on P35 is comparable to 965. Not an improvement but fine. Edit - hmm, it seems the results in different reviews are varied...

Honestly, I think alcohol is fine. I've been using 70% for decades in the recording studio on far more sensitive parts than metal sinks.

It's widely used to clean vinyl records too, which are way more fragile. None of mine have dried up yet.

You know what that's true for me as well. I only have one AMD - Barton 2500 on an Asus A7N8X DLX. I built that in October 2003 and it's actually still solid as a rock and quiet.

But now I'm building Intel so I 'm looking to find a quiet board if possible.
