FS: Smart Drive 2002C, Fallout 3 PC DVD
For those of us on my side of the pond (US), I'm selling my used Smart Drive 2002C. The finish is pretty light, so there are plenty of small scratches all around it. It's in good functional condition, though. It really does help reduce the vibrational and acoustic noise. http://img4.imageshack.us/im...

SPCR never reviewed the Orochi, did they? At any rate, there are two major differences I can see vs. the Orochi: 1) It has much narrower fin spacing. This may be worse for low-airflow situations and thus slience. 2) Is has much more space between the top part of the heatsink and the smaller heatsink...

I have no interest in ATX cases, especially ATX cases as large as this one.
That said, it looks with this case that the industry has finally borrowed another idea from SCPR: holes in the mobo tray for cable routing!

Our anechoic chamber became operational shortly after our last hard drive review. Some of the reference drives (the ones we still have access to) were re-tested in the chamber for airborne acoustics. If SPCR pays shipping both ways, I can lend you my Samsung Spinpoint P80 w/ Nidec motor to re-test....

I remember you. I modeled my first silent rig after what you did the Antec 3700. As luck would have it, I recently ditched my modified SLK3700AMB but decided to keep the (unmodified) bezel. It's yours for the price of shipping, just as soon as I can find something to ship it in. It's in great condit...

I want to play a whole slew of 96/97/98 games that I missed out on as they were meant to be played, sans emulation, and do it on a rig that I could never afford at the time. I've already acquired most of the other parts. I appreciate the offer, but anything after 1998 I won't use. The bigfoot thing ...

Catalyst 8.10 offers GPU fan control via software
From the release notes: Catalyst Control Centerâ„¢ Fan speed control This release of the ATI software driver version 8.54 introduces the ability for users to control the speed of the GPU fan when running in accelerated graphics. I've added a Cable Management section. Regarding Antec and cable management, they'd have to make the holes big enough for the 24-pin ATX connector to fit through. They could make removable rubber plugs (like the one between the upper and lower chambers for IDE cables) for the holes, but for the dedi...

Thank you all very much for your kind words. Owing to the cramped dimensions, I find mATX cases harder to work with. Because the NSK3480 is one of the smaller 'regular-profile' mATX cases out there, this build was even more challenging. And because of the mods I was doing, this build was frustrating...

I have the 7K200 in a Scythe Quiet Drive 2.5 that is suspended by stretch magic. I cannot hear the HDD at all. In ambient conditions of 18.33C, the drive does not get above 25C under full CPU and GPU load (I'm not sure about defragging, though). This may change for the worse, however, when I get the...

I've almost finished my 140mm intake mod in my NSK3480. So far, I've purchased the lower-speed Yate Loon, the D14SL-12, to eventually install in this position. I definitely support the transition from 120 to 140mm fans for the same reason that going from 92 to 120mm fans is usually beneficial: greater CFM at lower RPMs (and thus lower noise). With an increase of only 20mm instead of 28 in the transition to 140mm, I would expect to see a slightly less impro...

5400 drives in both form factors have indeed made noticeable gains in performance since the 'Cuda IV was competitive with other 7200 drives.
