The fan that isn't starting up all the time is the scythe sflex 800 rpm model. As I type this its not on. It was last night but right now its not spinning. The funny thing is I can see it just start to try and spin every once and a while like its trying to start but can't. I've tried 2 different fa...

I visited the client today, and all the fans seem to be working properly at low speeds. The cold boot problem was indeed solved by the new BIOS. When the machine boots from power off state now, it seems to spin the fans to max before settling down to low speeds after a minute or two. Falcon26: Is th...

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to convince you all to go out and buy Matrox cards now :) I searched this area and found no info on them yet, maybe rightfully so. They are still expensive and they offer little extra over other solutions. For the system I build I had a card on order which never a...

Probably none, unless you are looking for a very specific solution, like a quad monitor setup. One of the main reasons for me to go with Matrox in the past was that their cards had dual DVI connectors, where other cards usually had a single DVI and a SUB-D connector. Matrox was also praised for thei...

New Matrox videocards: The M-Series

I'm not sure if I missed a topic on this, if I did then I am sorry. Matrox recently introduced a bunch of new cards, dubbed the M-Series . The series contains multiple cards with different specifications, but all of them are fanless and cooled by a heatsink on the card. Short summary: M9120 PCIe x16...

I had the same thing with a machine I build for a client. I used a DX48BT2 board and initially Nexus 120mm fans (the orange ones). When I would start the machine for the first time (after power disconnect) the fans would spin up to speed and slow down and keep going. But when I turned off the machin...

One easy way to track down hum and other noises I sometimes use is a small Maglite flashlight. Put the flashlight against various parts of the case, and then against your ear. Anything solid should work, and though you may look like a fool doing it, it does work most of the time :)

I don't have any pictures handy, but I'll do my best to explain. I used a modulair Corsair PSU in a few of my builds. All my drives were SATA, so I only connected those cables to my PSU. I did need one extra old fashioned 4 pin molex connector to connect a fan. This would mean I would have to use a ...

I'm running mine with KVR533D2N4/1G without any problems. I've considered upgrading it to a 2GB stick but not sure there really is a need.

If you hooked up the power led lead, does the led flash any of the error codes when you start it? The codes are described in the manual if I remember correct.

Not sure if it will work for the desktop version too, haven't tried that personally, but I think it will.

Hope it helps.

I wouldn't call Hmonitor "the new kid on the block"... It's been around for years, but I don't think you had to pay for it back in the day. A new kid on the block is "HWMonitor", made by the same guys that make "CPU-Z", which is one of my favourite tiny applications.

It has nothing fancy, and does not yet support all "hardware ecosystems" (gotta thank MS for putting thatone into my head), but it's small, does what it should.
