Ancient One, I just bought the Zalman MFC-2 too. I did notice with all my fans including my Noctuas, they would modulate a lot between RPM speeds. I actually disconnected the fan controller because the alarm kept sounding, even though every connection was in use.

I agree with jaganath, I thought the whine was coming from my new Asus P5K deluxe board but on closer inspection and listening, it turned out to be my PSU which is a Seasonic M12 700 Watt. ASUS MOBO

WIFI on my P5K Deluxe is ok when you are not too far away from the motherboard, otherwise it loses reception. My major complaint is when the heatsinks on the board are warming up, they make a lot of noise. I'm thinking of applying silicone to all the heatsinks.

No, just three fans are installed, but the device allows you to disable the fan terminal that is not in use, which I did. I just purchased the new Zalman ZM-MFC2 fan controller. Unfortunately, whenever I turn on my computer, the controller buzzes twice as the computer is starting up, and intermittently as the system is running. I would not recommend the Antec Phantom 500. I bought two at Fry's and both had problems. The first had a high pitch screeching sound, the second just did not work at all.
