I am just curious which components did not fit in the MI-008? Did you have trouble with the cpu cooler height or optical drive length? Or was it something else? I would like to build an ITX system and this case was on the top of my list.

The Power supply looks to be a custom size that would not be replaceable or modifyable. The two small fans could definatly be noisy. It looks like you will have a hard time silencing the PSU if that is your main ssource of noise. I cannot tell for sure, but the dell motherboard looks to be a standar...

I would deffiantly go for a ssd over a 2.5" 7200rpm HDD. The noise of the 7200 rpm drive would definately be noticable. If you do not mind the smaller size and slightly lower sequential writes then you could get a intel X25-V 40GB for $120 at B&H photo and then get a 5200RPM 2.5" drive for storage w...

I do not know much about water cooling, but i know that you will not need 2 reservoirs even if you do 2 loops. The tube coming out of the reservoir could be split to the two pumps with a Y connection. if you do two loops, I would not put anything on the 5970's loop as it will most likely be your hot...

It is likely that the interference is happening at the subwoofer amplification circuits. You could try moving the subwoofer across the room and see if that helps.

the speed of a three pin fan is controled by the voltage supplied to the fan, but a four pin fan is controled by PWM. if you could hook the three pin fan up to the GPU fan header it would probably run at full speed all the time.

The PicoPSU is extreamly effiecent, and you would not need an external power brick. I am not sure how much power you can put through a pico, they are normally limited by the external power birck that you use to convert from 110V AC to 12V DC.
