I have 6 or 7 drives in a Antec 300. It's starting to get tight as I don't want them right next to each other. I'm not getting any noticeable vibrations, but the fans cover that noise.

PWM has nothing to do with the physical size of the fans. It's the 4 pin connector on the fan VS the 3 pin normal standard. It's used to automatically control speed based on temperature requirements. I will post additional pictures of my revisited PC asap. Next steps : 1/ uncovering free PCI vents to see whether I'm better off leaving them open or covering them. 2/ Buying some damping material (eg accoustipack) as I really can't see what I can do at this point to further decrease overall noise....

are you running the top case fan as well? I have the same setup and I was running my q6600 @ 3.4Ghz with a naked Ninja Rev B. I have both tricools on low and it did get hot but not unstable.. So if you're not going to OC it then you'll be fine. my Asus p5k-premium has the CPU very close to those top...
