There is also another model from enhance-tech called the quadrpack which is much higher quality than the startec. I also have three of those. I was using it to house 4 10K sas drives and it kept them cool enough but was by no means silent. I ended up putting vr's in one, assorted ssd drives in one a...

I had this but ended up throwing it in the trash. When the fans were on low they were not to bad bot not silent. My problem with this was not the sound but the cheap construction. I had 3 of these and had the handles for break off on two. I had springs popout of another two and when they came the pl...

Case with 2.5" bays so no converter needed?
Are there any cases out there with 2.5" bays instead of 3.5" ones. I know I can get the adapters to convert a 2.5" drive to a 3.5" but would prefer to just have a case built for it from the start. I am looking for one with 4-6 2.5" bays and 2-3 5.25" bays. I currently use a device that goes into the...

Interesting find, I will have to keep a eye out for more about this. I am not totally shocked by the MLC one though but am surprised that the posters above SLC drive expereinces this also. Since the R/W cycles on the MLC flash is a lot less I am guessing there is more error correction/tracking of wh...

I just don't get something. If the controller on the SLC one does not have this problem then why don't thye just move that controller to the MLC drives. I have been with the understanding the the price difference between the SLC and MLC drives was due to the coast of the flash and not the controller...

good point, I would think it is best handled in the drive itself too, but I was just wondering who would come up with something faster. The post from earlier about the multiple channels actually making write performance worse. I am curious as to why? Wouldn't you be able to be writing to one channel...

Yeah supposedly Intel says their controller does not suffer from the horrible write performance of the previous ssd's. I guess we will have to wait and see on this one. I guess the only way would be to us on of the caching controllers and setup a raid array. If there was no cache then I suppose you ...

at least now that intel is pushing the SSD technology, prices should drop even quicker than they have been. I like that they went with 2.5" and 1.8" form factors only, dropping the 3.5" standard. Its about time desktop HDD's moved away from the larger 3.5" form factor. Now we just need to get some ...

I am looking forward to the new OCZ drive. I have the core1 128GB model now and am pretty happy with it. Although I have now experienced some of the hitching it is tolerable as this is still developing technology. I have been running SSD drives now for over a year. I have the Sandisk SATA 5000, Firs...

I have been using this drive for about two weeks now and am loving it. I was previous using a gen one samsung ssd in my notebook and have noticed a diffence even between the two. I strange freezes that I had with the Samsung are gone. Could it be faster, sure, but this seems to be a good comprimise....

Andy, I think you are on to something there but my understanding is still not great of them. I have noticed in some other forums that when setting up RAID arrays with them that certain stripe sizes are best. I believe for the MTron drives it was 64KB and that was due to the fact the drives with that...

Ok, I hooked the OCZ drive up to my motherboard and had no problem at all with the write tests. I did all three hdtach tests http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/857/oczcoressd128gbhdtachqunm1.th.jpg http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/4935/oczcoressd128gbhdtachlohy8.th.jpg http://img519.imageshack.us/...

I was able to load Windows up on the OCZ Core drive also. It turns out I was just being impatient. The Drive partitioning/formating juts takes an extremely long time. I thought for sure the process locked because there was no progress for a long time. On my laptop I upgraded from a Gen 1 Samsung SSD...

Well, I got mine but think there is a problem with it. I am getting excellent read results but can not complete any synthetic benchmark on it for writing. HDTach, HDTune and everest all hang. I tried installing Vista and Ubuntu on it and neither will complete. :( Update: I was able to load up a copy...

Zalman GS1000
I am thinking about switching over to the Zalman GS1000 case. It seems to have a lot of nice features and best of all it hold EATX motherboards. What do you all think of the design for quietness and airflow? I just ordered their 1000W power supply also. Not that I need the power but I like that it s...
