Re: Do multiple tries on spin-up hurt longevity?
[quote="__Miguel From what I've read, and considering the parts he's using, most likely it's the brick not having enough juice to keep up with the power draw, not the circuit.[/quote] I agree with "go overboard". I'd go 150, overhead=futruproofing. But what he describes with "other devices" plugged ...

Re: Do multiple tries on spin-up hurt longevity?
:) Yes, this can damage the servo that spins the platters. Your power brick was made to spin up one drive with 2.5" platters which typically have considerably less weight. Since the largest draw is at spin-up, and you are running three 3.5" HDD's you are drawing quite a load for the first two to fiv...

 I received a return call from Enermax a day ago. The Tech I spoke with stated he was unaware of any revision in the Enermax Marathon 80mm Enlobal, & would pass this info along to R&D. I own an Enermax PSU & have good memories of them answering a bunch of questions prior to purchase, so I bel...

Thanks everyone. It is possible, but, as said, it has a voltage of 5V. And just 100mA. (The maximum of an USB-port is 500mA, but you have to request it. And a fan can't do that. So a maximum of 0.5W.) A firewire port gives you 12V however. (That's why you should never connect an USB-port to firewire...

Can a fan be powered via a USB port?
I have this idea...
I want to add a cooling fan to the home theater. The DVR has USB ports. I have 12v fans.
Can a USB port send 12v to a 12v fan?
It seems like it should work, a Antec P182SE has that spotlight that runs off the internal USB connector on a modern mobo.

Nice review.....I know how difficult such a project can be, even the typing. I use 80mm fans frequently, mostly 80x15mm. The 25mm thick fans just never seem to fit. Too bad you didn't include the low-speed Yate Loon . I'd be quite surprised if this fan didn't become your #1.....no doubt it would be...

A comparison of some 80mmx25mm fans...
I've been working on fan swaps for my older Mach-V, again. This is the third round in about 8 years. The goal is quiet fans that still wash the components with adequate airflow to cool them. I thought I'd share what I've found so far about the fans I've bought & tested. These perspectives are from a...

Good Mornin' :) Okay, the basics: :!: For proper case airflow the air should go in from the front and/or bottom of the case & exhaust from the rear and/or top of the case to follow the laws of hatura(oops. more coffee please) natural convection. The P18x cases (I own two p182's) do a great job of th...

Hi Druneau, Thanks for the review, especially the video! Unless I'm wrong the video looke like PCPer was right that the RPM display matches the correct RPM of the fan. Do you think I'm right? The video/photos make the MFC2 lool like ther is more than a little bleed from the display segments, especia...

So basically, its not really worth it. :( I'm currently using a push push fan configuration on the Infinity. I'm OC'ing but still getting high temps. I don't think a single fan will do. (Idle=40C for E4400 @ 2.9GHz, stock voltage) An angle bend instead of a curve What's the difference? (sharpness?)...

Hi angelkiller, An angle bend instead of a curve, especially two of them, will affect rate of cooling for the HR-05. You will also create a compound curve in the heatpipes as well which will further reduce the heat transfer. Making only one bend will reduce the airflow if it is passive due to...

Enermax doesn't have a fan factory. Most fan marques (makes) don't. Obviously, they switched sources and didn't assure that the product didn't change. I have several 120mm Enlobals, but never bought an 80mm version. Your report makes me wonder what current 120mm Enlobals would be like. :? Hi Felger...

Best cooler for this CPU/mobo/case combo?
:? Hi folks, I've read 'till my head hurts, help me please. I'm building a rig. The mobo is a socket 478 ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe. The CPU will be either a P4 Prescott or a P4EE Gallatin. The case will be a Antec P182. I may add the 120mm fan in front of the upper HDD cage if needed. I want to O/C the s...

:) Hi everyone! I am new to the forum this is my first post, apologies for the length. If you felt someone lurking, that was me, I've been reading everything I can here for a while now. Today I registered because I finally have something to contribute. Not all Enermax 80mm Enlobal fans are the same....
