I'm supprised no one has tried to do this before. If you ever manage to get some testing done, would love to see the results.

Thanks for all the quick replies, Sorry I didn't expand the MODT acronym, I guess after looking at lots of cases with the term I forgot not everyone will know what it meant. If I do this, I'd be getting one of the low end new c2d E8XXX or pentium dual core E3XXX's, and with any luck they'd have the ...

I don't think they will have done such an awesome job on routing cables round the back of the case :P

They get the front page as I think they are going to be selling the system, you planning on making loads and selling them to others?

Difference between MODT & mATX mounting

Is there a difference between the mounting points on a MODT mATX board and a regular mATX board? I've seen some nice slim HTPC cases, and they say they accept MODT mATX boards, but not 'vanilla' mATX. Is there a difference in the physical mount layout? Would I be able to use a regular mATX and low p...

Mike: Let's hope that 2008 SPCR Upgrade Drive Meter isn't actually a logarithmic measurement of the funds like the scale suggests.
That'd be mean

Have you noticed if removing half the frame alters the noise from the fan?

I would have thought that it might have more turbulence now.

So this is a massive thread and I didn't read all of it, but isn't the main problem with keyboards that the keys are in fact hollow and amplify the rattling and movement of the keys? So wouldn't the solution for quiet keyboards to fill in the keys (with some sound dampening material) so they are no ...

Donating before the competition incentive puts a bigger smile on my face to hear about the competition.

I genuinely am excited to see this project happen and once it is done, it will make SPCR *the* place to get the most accurate sound levels of equipment.

although many might think that 2 speakers next to each other is better, it is definitely not. you will get some constructive and destructive interference of the sound waves by having them next to each other. They were designed to run with 2 (1 per channel) and it would take a hell of a lot of tunin...

Looks good ^_^

Did the PSU ducting help temps any? (Though I guess it's hard to compare fairly with the GPU dumping that extra heat into the case).

Nice move with the discrete GPU, with the purevideo they really can help HD playback.

The top two drive bay covers don’t fit on anymore, as I originally cut the radiator placement to be as far forward in the 5.25" bays as it would fit. Actually I think you should read (or scan pics) from start to where I'm at now, over here , to get a better understanding of what's in this rig. But...

You've done well to make sure the door still fits with all those cables hidden back there!

Some serious power in the rig too. 8)

Mounting anything in another room is just wishful thinking by me, in practical terms, there isn't anywhere to put it (unless I come up of some way of hanging it outside the window :P, but that isn't likely) To fill you in on the 'blanks' of the case, here are some old (bad) shots of the top and fron...

The LED was a left over I had from when I first built the rig, I originally had 4 LED fans in there as I didn't look into fans that much and just went with more Antec fans (to compliment the tricools). Needless to say I got fed up of the noise and swapped out to Noctua NF-P12's. I have them all plug...

P180 Watercooled

Hello SPCR types ^_^ I'm new here, but am very much into the silent PC ethos. In my ongoing quest for silent a PC I've recently finished modding my (original version) P180 for clean cable runs, and think that it looks decent enough to compare to some of the excellent P180 builds on here. So, here is...
