I use a SQD2.5 in my main computer for the past 2 years. It was purchased from directron.com. I recalled it was on sale even, as it appeared that nobody wanted them back then. Excellent product I may comment. I am looking for one or two more SQD2.5s recently and could find nobody in the US that sell...

So I take it that 7" is the minimum I am looking for? Would that be from wall to wall or from mobo tray to wall? I don't have the spec in front of me. But I think Ninja is only a bit over 6". Mobo usually sits on a standoff. So, you are looking at another 3/8" for the mobo and the standoff. 7" shou...

It fits just fine. Also, the acron nuts on the top of a Ninja are purely cosmetic. You can even remove them, if you need more room.

Sounds like the next logical silent upgrade for you guys is remove Vista and install OSX86.

I use OSX86 with a Samsung 2.5" HD inside a suspended Scythe Quiet Drive. Mac OS rarely access hard drive.

You don't need a roller to install Dynamat inside a PC as the surface area is small. Just use your fingers, or a small piece of hard plastic or metal.

Both Edead and Dynamat are available at Amazon. In fact, with free shipping and no sales tax, Dynamat is flat out inexpensive at Amazon.

Dynamat is to stiffen surfaces for car audio installations. What do you think damping means? Dynamat is high density butyl rubber. You can get also get butyl rubber from McMaster. Why use consumer grade materials when one can use industrial grade soundproofing materials? Both Damptek and Acoustipac...

I used double layers of Dynamat Xtreme and a single layer of Edead Teklite acoustic foam on my last build. I can hear no noise of any kind from the computer in a very quiet room.

For silent/very quiet CPU cooling isn't the Scythe Ninja still the champ? Yes, things like the Ultra 120 Extreme can get the chip cooler (at high fan speeds), but isn't the name of the game to get just cool enough at the lowest possible noise, rather than maximum cooling? I've never seen any heatsi...

I think watercooling is your solution. Watercool CPU, GPU, NB, SB, PWM. (RAM and power supply too, since price is not a concern) Plus the two fast, loud hard drives using a hard drive water cooler. Suspend the hard drive cooler and put the suspended cooler inside a sealed box made with 1/2" (12.5mm)...
