Mine has also been running for without a hitch for about 2.5 years. I even put it in a relatives computer when I bought a Corsair to replace it. He's an online gamer, so it runs constantly.

m1k30rz, I am running a very similar setup to what you are proposing (specs in signature). I think you'll have no problem with your proposed setup. The difference between your E5300 and my E6300 being the clock speed (2.6Ghz vs. 1.86Ghz), FSB (800Mhz vs. 1066Mhz), and process (45nm vs. 65nm). They h...

Why buy a passive graphics card and an aftermarket vga cooler also? Just buy the cheaper reference card if that is the route you're going.

The Lian Li PC-V1110 looks promising. Let us know your thoughts after you get it.

The 4670 is also a good card, but the reference cooler is not nearly as quiet as the 3850. It is factory set at 50% and I didn't fool around with it too much prior to changing over to the Accelero. It seemed tolerable around 25% if I recall. It certainly doesn't take a lot to cool the card though. M...

With a single slot configuration you won't be able to have it exhaust outside the case, so I'm assuming your just referring to exhaust to the rear of the case. In that case, I used an HD3850 for a little over a year. It ran a little warm under load (still within manufacturers specs but 80C and above...

Of course, depending on your needs, you may be able to get away with less power and save a little more coin. Stick with reputable manufacturers l...

The start of this thread shocked me with those temps. My 4670 is idling away at 35C with only an S2 and a couple case fans at 700 RPM, so I knew something had to be wrong. Glad to see you have it resolved.

Why is it that neither side can present their argument without resorting to insults? It's the science that we are interested in, not "Nah Nah Nee Boo Boo. I was right and you were wrong." What happened to civilized debates? This behavior seems to predicate all political arguments. Now it's creeping ...

I think you could probably fit the HIS card in an NSK2480. It uses the Zalman VNF100 and the heatpipes are clamped into a block. You should be able to bring the heatpipes down so they touch the top of the card and that should give you just enough clearance for the lid. This is assuming that the heat...

My HD3850 fits with some room the spare. The separating wall does not interfere with the connection of the PCI-E power connector. I know it's not the 8800GT, but I thought maybe it would help as a reference.

Thank you for your replies. Slowing the drive speed has always been my method in the past and looks as though it will be for now as well. I just hadn't purchased a drive in a while and thought it would be worthwhile to check. I may give the Asus drive a try and report back if I can discern any diffe...

I've been thinking about modding an S1 to run on my HD3850 in an NSK2400. I think I'd just remove some of the fins and go for a 90 deg bend a t the top of the card. The remaining fins would go over the top of my TV tuner card since it sits low. Anyone try this mod (I know it's been asked before, but...

Recommendation for quiet SATA combo drive

My IDE Lite-on DVD burner is beginning to fail sporadically, so it's time for a replacement. Could you give me some suggestions for a quiet SATA replacement. Thanks.

It might be possible to inset a louvered hardwood register cover in place of the metal grille. They're readily available at any home improvement store and don't cost much. I'm not sure it how it would look, but I thought I'd throw the idea out there. Very nice case BTW.

I suspended one 3.5" drive vertically in the original location. I removed the factory drive cage hardware and tied two pieces of vinyl screen spline across to create a "hammock" for the drive. I then used one screw in the side of the drive that is facing up and tied off another piece of screen splin...

I just purchased an HD 3850 and I was astonished by noise produced with the the reference cooler. At idle it's inaudible and at full load it's still fairly quiet. Of course, I would still like to add a passive cooler in the near future. Possibly the VNF100 if it will do the job adequately. I'll have...

I have a similar setup in an NSK2400 and I think it makes a great desktop case. The cooling in this case is great and it's also easy to keep it quiet. I think the max height for a heatsink is around 105mm in the NSK2400, so a normal regular Ninja will not fit without modification. I would like to tr...
