looks great! I'd buy it, EXCEPT.... even a midrange GPU like the GeForce 460 GTX requires 2x 8-pin PCI-e power... why doesn't seasonic include 2 plugs? 400W could easily power a 460 GTX...maybe seasonic rep can answer this. I can't explain Seasonic's rationale but the 460W model does include an ext...

Hi, this is something we have been working on but not easy to achieve due to the low power output and the 12V to 3.3 & 5V ratio. To get our 400w to Gold was already a big step. Maybe next year... Good to hear that this is being worked on, I've traditionally been put off by SFX due to the lack of qu...

Have you tried a newer BIOS? The one your using currently seems to have poor fan speed profiles, perhaps this has been fixed. http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=2456 N.B. Hi So my question is: will a 120W PSU be wasted on a max40W system, and all I'll get will be extra consumption due to the 80W capacity that is not used? or the fact that I'll drain 1/3 of the Watts doesn't count, and I should choose the 120W PSU because is more efficient? A power supply will only su...

I assume your currently using an S-Video to composite cable? If this is the case find an S-Video to SCART cable, SCART will provide marginally better quality than composite. Other than that bump your font size up, maybe mess around with some different fonts to see whats more readable. As for newer T...

Odd, although Asus customer support is terrible (I won't get into my own experiences), I didn't have any trouble getting a response from their online tech support (the value of this response was dubious) although you will have to deal with a tech from China or similar. In regards to phoning them, tr...

Hi A power supply will supply only the power required to power the device. P=IV and the voltage is fixed (in this case at 12 V), so to vary the power we must change the current, which may be anything from around 0 A to potentially above the maximum current specified by the power supply. With this in...

I don't think that the only concern is "falling off" the motherboard, but maybe if the HS is heavy enough it could cause less than optimum pressure of the HS against the CPU. This might be more prone to happen over time or when the case was jolted. Provided adequate installation force and a decent ...

Hi Most of the larger heatsinks have backplates to counteract any adverse effects that there extra height/weight may cause. These backplates spread the load over a larger area hence reducing the stress in the m/b, whether these are really needed or not I cannot say but they certainly can't hurt. OTO...

Elemental Designs sells pretty much the same stuff and they do it by the square foot. In the thicknesses you will actually be able to apply in your case it doesn't do anything significant for low frequency (eg HDD) noises. Reading through this thread, I remembered that some cars use composite materials (foam and vinyl layers) in engine bays to deaden the noise of the engine. These materials have to damp a lot of reasonably low frequency noise but also some high frequency noise as well, a situation somewhat similar to ...

Why? PS-ON is a 5V line which is drawn to ground potential (by say, shorting it to a ground line with a paperclip..) to turn the PSU on. It's not exactly dangerous. I always advise people to be cautious with electricity it prevents the 'argh you gave me an electric shock' debate later, that and peo...

Well its highly unlikely to have anything to with the LEDs and removing fans won't do it (unless of course the noise was always there but now its more noticeable, or its heat induced). Computer Lounge have Solos for around $175 which seems to be the cheapest in NZ, I can also testify that their service is on par with Ascent (aka excellent 90% of the time).
