Re: Silent Server running under 20 Watts

You can't run WHS on a USB flash drive, minimum size for the data drive is 70 gigs. And even if they got that big eventually, WHS writes to the data drive on a fairly regular basis and I don't think you'd want to deal with the speed issues. I thought it was 20GB for the system drive? Data drive mig...

Re: Silent Server running under 20 Watts

No big need to run the OS on a separate drive. It won't make the data storage more reliable. A USB flash drive might work well if you want separate data drives. It shouldn't impact performance I wouldn't suppose. A single HDD can give 1TB storage which is a lot for most people. Storage requirements...

yeah, 750W is quite unruly. http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=49709 ^there's Nick G's 10 drive, 8TB monster...and it only uses a 620W power supply. Nick uses a Corsair HX620, but I think you could get away with 550W, maybe as low as 520, depending on the drives you use. its more ...

How big of a power supply do I need?

I've got a server with 5 hard drives running off a generic 450 watt PSU. I'd like to add more hard drives in the future but I don't trust the PSU I have now so I'm looking for some alternatives. System Specs: Asus m2a-vm HDMI AMD 4400+ 3 gigs of ram 4 SATA hard drives, 1 IDE I'd like a PSU that I ca...

Actually, now i'm beginning to think that it's a memory issue. I'm getting crashes with and without a pci-e card. the nortbridge heatsink is quite warm. I'm currently testing my system with the memory running at DDR667 speeds. Alot of people on the Asus forum are having to manually set their ram to...

... For example my plasma is 1366x768 but the options available were 1080i and 720p. 1080i filled the screen properly but the icons were so small as to be unusable. 720p left me with underscan (dark edges all around). I had to use something like 1388x775 to get it to fill the screen. ... I've used ...

I have to question the comments re:resolution. Catalyst Control Centre can force custom resolutions, and will go into any resolution you want. It's used alot by the HTPC crowd to take care of overscan and underscan on their TV's. The comment "Since it gave us the option of several resolutions outsid...

Oh yeah, the firewire isn't all that hot either (get it? ). I plugged in my 4th generation Ipod via firewire and it won't work with this motherboard but it works on my other computers. I tried an external firewire hard drive and that works with this board. I'm guessing that the harddrive work...

Mine is in an Antec Overture II, with 3 hard drives (2 SATA, 1 IDE) and an IDE optical drive. No additional cards other than the HDMI card it comes with. Unplugging the 2 SATA cards from the power supply doesn't help. My XP install is fresh and I only installed XP updates, motherboard drivers, HDMI ...

I'm really interested in picking one of these up, lucky for me a local shop here in town carries them for $75. Just need to convince the little lady that in addition to a graphics card I also need another computer to go with my 2 desktops, HTPC, and laptop

I have this board, and I have to say I really regret getting it. The HDMI and DVI are flaky beyond belief. If you read the Asus forums, people are having all kinds of troubles with flickering screens using DVI. When I first set it up I used a DVI to HDMI cable, and I wasn't too stressed about it sin...
