Just came back to check this out, thanks guys. I got the Nexus Value 430W, but I'll probably underclock and make a silent build later on with the 80W.

Throwing my 2350 back in I can only get to 2.4GHz before I hit the same heat/noise. I guess it's normal. Heh. Sorry guys.

30-50C sound pretty close to normal. I've used core temp for monitoring cpu temp in the past. Is it fine now? Well, overclocked to 2.8 and checked it out under load... core temps stick with the reported CPU temp. 46/46 and 49. I just hope it doesn't get worse if I'm playing a game. Overall I'm just...

With all the grease swapping were you sure to clean the surfaces WELL in between each swap? I say this becasue a lot of people asume that becasue it looks clean and smooth, its good to go...when in actuality the small groves in the metal on both the HSF and the cpu can still be holding the old past...

5050e idling hot and loud

Just threw a 5050e and an Asus M4A78 Pro into my case, and while it's getting a little busier in there (I have 2 disks running now instead of 1 while I make the transition) the thing runs crazy hot. Tried two pastes, nothing changes. With a Ninja Rev. B. it idles at 43 with the stock scythe fan at 9...

The 90W measurement was just playing Counter Strike Source as far as I remember. Nothing super accurate I guess. I should probably get around to getting harder numbers if I want to cut it that close. Thanks for the response!

AMD 45w BE-2350 Nvidia 430 w/ onboard Nvidia 6150 graphics 2 x 1GB DDR 667 wireless card 3" 7200rpm drive With my Corsair VX450W power supply I measured my draw at the wall to be between 50-90W, but I assume at a pretty low efficiency of 60-75%. The computer will be used to output 720p video. Should...

Received my sample, or at least I think I did! (I signed up for two of these freebie tests recently)

Will post tests as soon as I get newer hardware (and thats up to AMD, looking at tri/quad core 45/65W) ... I hope that is ok? Want to have the good stuff on ;) Test will be done on two systems.

I currently use an AMD BE2350 based system for music. I game occasionally, but if you're going strictly music I suggest really cutting back and going all passive. I suggest you get a decent motherboard and a dedicated passively cooled video card. My USB transport (EMU 0404 USB - also something I wou...

G5 here - and there is no whine, but like most mice it makes a clicking noise ;). Also, I agree - LED lights are annoying, and the G5 has one. My monitor power LED is a lot worse though.

Let us know what you end up going with and how it turns out.

I bought a 931bw just due to its technical superiority to most other 19" TN models, but on the settings I like it on it is easily contributing more noise than either of my running pcs. I understand about the 80% brightness fix, and I use it when the sound is really bothering me. I think SPCR should ...

Yes. 11 dollars over one year of 24/7 use at full loads 8 hours of the day. I think this makes it worth it, considering its only 15 dollars extra and the bonus right off the bat is the lower thermals. Source is Tom's Hardware btw, don't remember the specific article off the top of my head, but I pos...

Looks like an amazing case for the money. I'm recommending it to a friend. It's too bad those are 3.5" drive bays, if they were a little wider they'd be perfect for suspending drives in front of some intake fans. Anyone have any ideas? If you want the same speed but cooler you can pick up the 4850e for about 15 dollars more than the 4800. Might need a bios update before you install it on your board though?

I'm not a scientist but air has to come from somewhere ;) Either from the intakes in the front of the open holes in the back. Enclosures will diminish all seeking and idle noise coming off of the drive, and it will help with vibration too. It won't completely kill the noise, for that you'll need to go esata or perhaps to slower drives / SSD. Good enclosures are kinda expensive, and maybe not really worth it. I paid 90 buck...

Some drives develop a whine, and you just can't fix it. I believe some people think it is a telltale sign of impending drive failure. If they're not that bad look into enclosures It's widely suggested here that you try to: 1. Consolidate, get 1 large drive instead of 2 smaller ones (eg/ the new 2 pl...

It might just be my specific board -- I'm really not sure. If you need to do real-time audio or video streams you might just have the same issues (I assume you might based on the firewire requirement).

Personally I wish I'd have gone with a full atx with no onboard video.
