Thanks again for all the help and suggestions!
Yea it is annoying that even though the aussie dollar is stronger than the the US we still have to pay more for the parts.
But anyway, I'm not sure if I should wait until bulldozer comes out, or buy a i5/i7 system now.
Thanks again everyone

Re: The State of Silence as of June 2011 - New Build
Thanks for the help guys! Regarding the CPU, I am actually after high performance, and considering the I7 as well as the 8 core Bulldozers when they are released later this year. I will do some very light gaming, so I do want a GPU, but it will mostly stay in idle most of the time. The Noctua NH-D14...

Hi, iv got the zalman CNPS9500 AT, and i was looking to change the fan in it with a nexus or scythe 1500rpm fan. The current one spins at 2000 (cant slow it down) and its soo noisy. With my old motherboard it used to run at 1300rpm, which was loads quieter, and the performance wasn't much different....

I think that silent PC review should rally do a test with certain heatsinks to see which ones work best. This is my thinking: SlipStream has the highest airflow but lowest air pressure, making it the quietest fan but not the most effective. Sflex has good static pressure but doesn't have the best ai...

Fan for CPU heatsink
Hi, i'm looking to improve the noise/performance of my Xigmatek HDT-S1283 CPU by replacing the fan. Which fan around 1000rpm – 1200rpm would best suit the HDT-S1283 while remaining quiet without compromising performance too much. I have read scythe are currently the top fan makers at low RPM/noise...

HDT-S1283 vs Vendetta 2 vs Achilles S1284
Hi all, my zalman 9500 has become quite loud lately, the fan seems to be on the way out and i thought i may as well invest into getting a new CPU cooler. From reading forum posts my case an antec solo seems to have trouble with the size of the TRUE120 and Noctua heatsinks so i decided to go for one ...

I was wondering however that this new fan mentioned here http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=49391 might actually fit. I think the fan is less than 140mm and is of a different shape so it should fit. If a 120mm fan fits at the front wont this new fan fit also? And ditto for the back...

Antec Solo Mod
Hi all, its almost the time of the year for upgrades and my antec solo is getting a bit boring, same fans (nexus) for about 2 years and same parts. What i was thinking of doing is modding the front of the case so it allows 1 120mm fan rather than the 2 92mm fans i have currently. Is that possible? W...

Thanks for the replies, and i think i will go with the Xigmatek HDT-S1283. This heatsinks looks much smaller than the TRUE and scores well with low RPM. Will it be much easier to install do you think? Would it be worth getting an additional bolt through kit? For this heatsink would the scythe Kama U...
