Re: Quiet HTPC build video

The video is fine, but personally I think to it could be shorter. I mean 16 mins is fine if you're looking to buy that particular case, but if you're highlighting the cooling choices you made, shorter would be better. Either way, the build seems just fine. As long as the components have low enough p...

I'm not the one to push kW-powersupplies to every build, but that's some serious hardware behind a small budget PSU

Other than that, looking good!

Re: NZXT H2 Classic Silent Midtower Chassis

Ever since reviewing the case myself I've been thinking of ways to enhance the intake.. Maybe I should just switch one of the front fans to the bottom intake and be done with it. I really liked the case, and the Youtube-bash-athon really makes me sad, as do the people who blindly just go by the one ...

Re: Quiet GTX 560 Ti

Currently testing the Gainward GTX 560Ti Phantom, and I must say I'm really impressed by the cooler. I haven't had a stock cooler GTX 560 (or recent Nvidia card for that matter) around, so I can't compare, but overall it seems like an excellent cooler. Under load the fans ramp up to 1800 RPM, which ...

Re: NZXT H2 - A worthy successor for P180?

Yeah the fans themselves still have 3-pin connectors (only short cables, though, which may make fitting longer cables a bit tricky). And yes, the side panel material is just foam rather than bitumen. Re: micro ATX advantage?

Your neutered ass can enjoy less comptent power management, less stable power feed and a less capable BIOS. ...None of which really has anything to do with the physical size of the motherboard. Please stick to the facts and drop the personal bs. You can also get stuff like the Asus Gene-series, but...

Re: micro ATX advantage?

I'm torn between the getting a ATX case and a micro ATX case. Besides being a little less expensive are there airflow or other advantages to a smaller case? Yes. You will be limited to neutered mATX motherboards and sometimes half height CPU coolers. Neutered my ass. Unless it's a 3- or 4-way SLI o...

Re: Silverstone Fortress FT-03 and Raven 3

The FT03 is something new and I really appreciate Silverstone for having the balls to try something new like that! Dunno how well it works in real life, and the hot-swap stuff is there mainly to add cost, but either way, it's good to see something new on the markets. The RV03 on the other hand? Yeah...

Re: Antec P183 vs Fractal Define R2

I would go for the R3 over the Antec. I much prefer the layout of the Define, as IMO the dual chamber malarkey isn't really helping anything. Also it means the case has to be higher without any better access to the components inside. I've had the original P180B, P180 Mini, Define XL and have had a g...

Re: Looking for Advice on Case Options

Personally i just hate the front panel of the P183 with the vents, the R3 to me only makes sense if you have loads of hard drives, so the Lancool would be my second choice from the list. I don't really like the front panel vents on the P183, but I like the increased air flow. To me, the R3 makes se...

Re: Looking for Advice on Case Options

The FT01 is a beautiful case. I've used one for a couple of years (now selling it as I suddenly needed hot-swap drive bays). You can easily remove the upper HDD-cage to make room for any graphic card. I flipped the top fan on mine to be exhaust. Like so: http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/3411/fortr...

I guess we just lost connection or something, anyway one more try: 1. I'm all in for mATX motherboards, most people indeed have just a single graphic card to slap on the expansion slots 2. I like cleverly designed small cases 3. The Mini is a mATX case that's just as large as ATX-cases, and with the...

I hope not also. But I fail to understand how the Mini P180 is niche since almost no one needs more than one adapter slot these days (for video), and many even use on-board video and don't need any slots. That means that a mATX board should be sufficient for the vast majority. The Mini P180 is actu...

Very nice build indeed. At idle/desktop use that thing should use barely any power as well, guessing somewhere around 50 W.. The stock GPU-cooler may seem like a curse word to some, but I have a couple of those HD5750 Vapor-X's around and they sure are quiet with the fan barely spinning.

You can always just slow the fans down, and even as-is, it's still a pretty damn quiet case. And there's no room for a normal DVI-D-SUB-adapter under the grille, you may be able to find one with a short flexible cable between the connectors, though.

If you have a stock HD5970 in the case, you're hardly going to hear the difference between grill on and off anyway  Also "mutilate"? Sure, I'm a case modder, but removing four screws is hardly a project.
