With the experience of this controller, I may not just want to get a replacement. I did call them for rma and still trying to decide whether to ship it back or not. Plus, they don't have any unit in my color. Also a bit of post traumatic experience.. :( don't want to be burnt twice.. Since many read...

Looking for good fan controller

I have a Sunbeamtech.com Chromatic Windmill fan controller. It lasted about 6 months. After a few months of usage, it managed to lose the settings on Mondays if I didn't turn it on on weekends(I have changed the battery twice) Then, couple weeks ago, during lunch time when I wasn't next to the machi...

The S12 is softer than the SFlex21E and P12 but it is not a good fan for heatsink due to weaker static pressure. The P12 & Sflex at full speed are comparable to me. Given Sflex is almost half the price of P12, I can probably use 2 Sflex in a push pull fashion(if one is not enough) at about the same ...

The dell CPU cooler should be sufficient if any changes you made didn't lower its air flow. (simple thing I would do is to put a probe in the case to measure the temperature before & after I turn off the extra fans) However, that may not be sufficient since you actually need to replace the fans with...

Don't have a PowerEdge 1900 but just did my old Dell 8300. It seems that you have more fans than you need. What kind of fans do the Dell come with? I thought many Nexus 92mm models have 3-pins. Actually, I deal with more 3-pin fans than 4-pins. And I keep thinking Europeans make the best fans :? I c...

Toilet paper test: fan pressure

Can we attach a long sheet of toilet paper and measure how far a fan can blow the paper above 50/75% of the original height in order to figure out how much fan pressure give off in a particular configuration?

Or is there any better ad hoc test?

Thanks Bill for the tips. I was thinking.. I can probably do without the soldering. i) I pull the plug out of the mobo (very gently), took about 5 mins and plug a regular 3-pin fan in (just make sure you match the red and black cables with the original). Viola.. I got through the bios without error....

There are 3 wires to the Dell CPU fan plug. red, black and white. Is the white one for the speed(the spec said tach)? Do I just match them back to the red, black, yellow wires on a regular fan? Never solder before, guess it is like melting cheese  People replacing the Dell fan with a quieter o...

I contacted Scythe and they tested theirs without problem. Therefore, they said mine may be defective. (It could also be combination of the fan and the board but the board controls the Noctua fans just fine) So, now I have the option to either RMA back to Scythe or to the vendor. Wonder if it makes ...

It is a evga 680i SE board. It has 5 fan controls in the bios (2 of them smart control which you can specify rules to raise the speed under what temperature) and 1 VREG by default use onboard control unit (I have no idea what that means) The board has 5 3-pin fan plugs and 1 4-pin CPU fan plug. So, ...

yep, I agree the SFlex21E is definitely better on the heatsink than the S12. If you really want to drop the temperature, get 2 of them and do a push pull configuration. And/or lap your heatsink and use Ceramique - people swear by 10c difference. (I don't know yet.. I am going to try it out tmw on my...

Yep, I read through some of the forum posts. People seem to be happy with the Accelro . Apparently the rev.2 is the only one that fits the 8600GT.

ps. The noctua fans are expensive.. I would love to use the SFlex except I couldn't manage to drop its speed without making the loud DeeDee sound..

eVga or Nvidia has a tool call Ntune, which is gonna be in the top 10 most cursed tool ever existed. I used it as well as bios to control fans like the AC Freezer Pro 7 just fine. And it works with the Noctua P12 and S12 (with some statics profile on the P12). The SFlex 21E produces a loud Morse cod...

Thanks for the reply, Mike. It is an odd 3 pin connector. I thought of either reusing it or cut out the plug on the mobo to make it fit. Need quiet 8600GT-OC

Hi, I bought 2 of these MSI 8600GT-OC cards thinking I can adjust the clock and memory and also the fan to lower speed when I don't need run demanding 3D applications. Replace old Dell 8300 CPU fan

Hi, My old dell fan is getting noisy so I think it is time to replace the thermistor fan. It is a JMC/Datech DS9238-12HBTL-A fan, runs about $15 at Dell. I am wondering if I can replace it other 92mm fans. I search the web and people said this fan use a special plug and if the mobo is not plug in wi...

SilenX iextrema Pro 92mm fans

Hi, I bought the 9dba, 20cfm model thinking I can either use it for the case's 92mm slot or for the VGA card strap on (to replace VGA stock fan). SilenX ixtrema as VGA cooler fan

My MSI 8600GT card fan (55mm) is very loud so I tried to replace it. I got the SilenX ixtrema 9dba, 20cfm version 92mm fan which is very quiet. (I read the review on the 14dba version which was why I tried to get this low flow version) I strapped this fan to the side of the heatsink. Unfortunately, ...

The SFlex and the Noctua both have 150K hrs rating instead of 30K. Would that mean something on its longitivity? MSI & others use non referenced cooling in their vga card. Therefore, the standard drivers won't be able to control them. You have to use MSI driver & software (The MSI Duo Core Center) & you have to have their MSI motherboard and running XP. Otherwise, you need third party cooling solutions. I have...
