Works great Removed the shroud/cover which worked to make it quieter and didn't change temperature enough to notice Even though the GPU temp is 13c cooler idling than my 7300GS w/ Zalman fanless my temps have gone up all around inside the case w/ all the other components. I've noticed the backside (...

Yeah it installs control panel and will configure xorg.conf for you (nice to have if you ever screw up xorg, you know you can just run Envy and it will fix it up for you)

Makes sense what you're saying on the heatsinks, it just stuck out to me as the GPU was so efficiently cooled.

Hmmm... I'll try disabling Restricted Driver Manager in Services then running Envy (it has up to the 169.09 drivers which support 8 series cards)

Thanks for the heads up

Wonder why they don't have any type of heatsinks on the memory?

Ordered, shows up tomorrow :D Also running Ubuntu/XP(just for games) dual boot. Noticed that guide is for Fiesty, hopefully things are smoother with Gutsy. I usually use Envy to do my nvidia install and xorg.conf configurations anyways, it hasn't failed me yet. Does the card not have heatsinks over ...

Thinking about getting this as I've regained interest in PC gaming I got a 7300GS w/ the Zalman fanless heatsink now which just doesn't cut it... but of course, it's QUIET How is the sound relative to other components? Louder than an idling 3.5" multi platter HDD? Louder than a Nexus fan at 7v? I fe...

One of my 800RPMs did that as well, I spent some time pushing the fan in and out and spinning it with my finger while frustrated... and after doing that the clicking stopped

I take back what I said, after listening to the enclosure late at night it still makes noise that echoes throughout the room. Thinking of replacing the drive completely and just using this one in an external enclosure for extra storage.

Built an Alleycat enclosure, didn't completely silence the drive, I can still hear it through the case a little. But it is actually cooling better and is quiet enough that I don't notice it unless I try to hear it (put my ear within a foot of the case and quiet any other noise source in the room). N...

Just sent mine in for RMA. Tried on multiple computers, didn't make a difference. Only time the coil whine stopped was when scrolling the mouse wheel.

This happened to me with a Seasonic S12-430w in the past, RMA'd and the unit that came in return was SILENT. :D

I'm getting better temps in my P182 with a 800rpm Slipstream w/ mobo control on the rear exhaust and 800rpm Slipstream @ 5v on top exhaust than with Nexus 1000rpms in the same set up. It's quieter with the Slipstreams too! It's only about 1-2c difference.

My AAKS idles loudly (seek noise is very quiet with AAM on), it's suspended in the lower chamber of a P182 and I can hear it from 10 feet away. I've decided to keep it though because the performance is great, I have the parts for an alleycat enclosure coming Monday.

I don't know about those slipstream fans. My friend put one on his thermaleright hr-03 plus for for 8800 gtx, and after listening to it, I could swear my sflex fan was quieter. The slipstream had a slight click to it, where as my sflex is dead quiet. These were both the 800 rpm models. I was going ...

Can't do anything else but put it in an isolation box ( viewtopic.php?t=32509 ) or get a quieter drive like a GP or the right 2.5".
Thanks, I guess I'll look in to that homebrew isolation box

Long time reader, first time poster I'm suffering from the same issue in a P182 case I've suspended AND used sound deadening material around the drive and still, its by far the loudest thing in my case just idling (when I boot with the drive's power disconnected the PC is very very close to silent)....
