Re: PSU fan won't start now I swapped fans

If you plan to use the PSU internal fan control, then you need to make sure that the fan you replace it with match the stock one. If it doesn't I would recommend that you power the fan by some other means, perhaps control it via a motherboard connector Thanks!!!!! :D I don't care about fan control,...

PSU fan won't start now I swapped fans

Help! I swapped the fan on my Seasonic SS330-GB (which, by the way, is not flipping silent out of the box) The fan I put in there is a black Skythe without much branding. DC 12v 0.18A. It won't start spinning, because the PSU doesn't give it enough amps (?) to start, but if I give it a flick with my...

I have a gigabyte P35 board and overclocking is a piece of cake (once you have realised how - which took me a while). If you do OC with it, I can offer you tips.

I have heard the X1950Pro delivers a very good performance:value ratio and would manage Call of Duty 4 at up to 1680x1050.

This is bad news as it looks like that's the prime noise source as it has two 40mm fans in it which would tie up with the high pitched tinny sound it's making. :( Handy with a soldering iron? http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/products/40mmfans EDIT: Or a cable stripper / scissors for that matter. I ...

Unbearably loud? I find that hard to believe. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact mine never runs at full speed.

Is the PSU held on to the top of the case with tape ? I've got the same CPU as you at the same clock speed, although with the Intel cooler. With the room at 22C I idle at ~52-54C, loaded goes up to 62-64C. I'm glad to see someone else is in the same ballpark. I kind of think I broke one of ...

For the rear fan you might want to try suspending it so that it's isolated from the case. It's easy to do in the Antec Solo as you have that PSU support bar to hang them from. Is the power supply stood directly on top of the case? A block of foam between it and the case might be worth trying to see...

It's looking good. :) Thanks :) I couldn't have done it without your advice. What vcore have you got the CPU at? Just 2 notches above default. Did you notice much of a difference in temperatures taking the PSU out of the case? It actually rose at first, until I attached that mini makeshift duct (an...

Just to bump this thread up a bit and talk about my Hiper 530W PSU. It seems Hiper is hated by many here, but my experience gives me no reason to agree. True, the Hiper PSU was noisier than a Seasonic silent series, straight out of the box. However, once the internal fan has been changed, it was muc...

your point was erroneous; the difference between the Acoustifan and the Noctua is probably only 7 or 8dB, not the 17dB which the "official" figures suggest. I'm going to go out on a limb and say nothing with moving parts can produce only 8dB. It's funny, you remind me of my sister before she grew u...

you do realise that it is not possible to measure 8dB in the real world, right? that 8dB figure is made up, even Noctua themselves admit it (asterisk followed by this figure is extrapolated ). also the Acoustifan range has not been recommended for years and years. If you want someone to argue with ...

We have all used very similar components, and yes they are required for a quiet machine, but so is a well designed and well constructed case. Hi Neil Well I dispute that our components are very similar. The difference between a "silent" fan and a "silent" fan can be HUGE! Case in point - 25dB "ultr...

Hey, I'm using a Coolermaster Stacker 690, most here probably would not like it. I had a 830 before, definetly not a spcr type case, though I was able to run it very silent. Any case can be run quiet if you put silent parts in it. Honestly the idea that an aluminium case is loud is folly. I have my...
