Antec Solo I & II parts
I have a collection of parts from Antec Solos and Solo IIs, left over from builds. Drive trays, fans, filters, suspension parts, etc. Does anyone have an interest in these or should I just toss them? I didn't see anything on eBay.

Re: WD WD20EZRX WD20EARX
I installed the EZRX in a Solo II and it is very quiet. However, I am not using it as an OS drive. It's just for storage.

Re: WD Blue 1TB single-platter WD10EZEX
I just returned mine and ordered a WD Green instead. I could hear the WD Blue 1TB several feet away. It was not acceptable for a near-silent build.

Re: WD WD20EZRX WD20EARX
Good to know the WD Green is quiet. I just bought a WD Blue 1TB. It is very loud in my Antec Solo II build. In fact, it's the only audible component and I can hear it at idle several feet away. I am shipping it back to Amazon tomorrow and have already ordered the WD Green 1TB to replace it. The odd ...

Re: Seasonic G360W gold for $60 - Review & Giveaway!
I love the Seasonic I used in my last build (X650 Gold) and am a loyal customer now. The G360W would be perfect for the new "green" build I am planning.
PC World recommended Seasonic in their newest issue, in an article about building a gaming rig. Nice to see them getting more press.

temp question - Core 2 Duo E8400 in Solo
Thank you. Should I need to, the options you all have suggested are easy enough to test. I always keep a spare PWM fan or two, and I can certainly block the holes next to the PCI slots to see if the temps change. I have an almost identical Solo system that I just built, but it has an E8400 and only ...

Three HDs in a Solo? More cooling needed?
Can I safely put three SATA HD's (WD 64000AAKS) in an Antec Solo case? Would I need another fan besides the 120mm PWM fan in the rear? Does/should this prevent me from suspending them? System Specs: Core 2 Duo E8600 Foxconn P45A-S 4GB Kingston HyperX DDR2 800 EVGA 9600GT (w/ dual slot cooling) Xigma...

WD 64000AAKS - jumper for SATA II 3.0Gb/s speeds?
I just read some Newegg reviews for the Western Digital 6400AAKS that talk about a jumper modification being required to get SATA II 3.0Gb/s speeds. "Other Thoughts: the jumper on the drive isn't to enable sata 300, its to enable sata 150 for backwards compatibility and all sata 300 drives have them...

Photos would be great, Nick. Since the 9600GT is not an ultra-fast gamer's card, would an S2 be enough to cool it? Did your motherboard have enough room for two S1's or did you have to use the S2 due to space constraints? I have owned a few Matrox cards in the past and while they did the job, they w...

Thank you for your recommendation. I have been reading about the 9600GT and it does look like a good choice. What is the difference between the Accelero S1 and the S2? Are the Accelero coolers a better choice than buying a card with passive cooling already built in, like the Asus EN9600GT ? Regardin...

Re: I'm not up to date
If you stick with Western Digital, I suggest the WD640AAKS instead. It has the newest WD drive technology in two 320 GB platters and is very quiet. There is almost no difference in price between it and the 500GB version.Faster_Madman wrote:Other components include:

Mobo/Video Card(s) for Photoshop Dual/Tri Monitor System?
Hi, all: I am looking for advice on a motherboard and video card(s) for a new PC. I run Photoshop and other design programs nearly all the time, plus several browser windows and the other usual stuff. I don't usually do heavy filters; my system demand comes from having lots of programs running and l...

Moving P4 3.06 system into Solo -- which Scythe 120mm fan?
I gave up the fight with my old case and bought a Solo for my Northwood system. I want to swap the included TriCool fan for a Scythe. Which one would be the best choice for my setup? My mobo supports SpeedFan and I have an available 3-pin SFAN1 connector on it, which I am hoping to use to control th...

Removing the zip ties shouldn't be painful! If you don't have a wire cutter or similar tool at home, get yourself an inexpensive PC tool kit at Radio Shack or online. The snipper cuts through the zip ties perfectly, without damaging the wires. And the kits usually come with some zip ties, so you can...

A quick update ... the Corsair VX450 is installed and as quiet as can be. Really nice -- the cables are all neatly wrapped and I had no problems at all. And although I guess it doesn't really matter in the end, the packaging is superb. The Minja is also installed with the included Scythe fan and AS5...

Bonestonne: Sorry, I misunderstood about the front fans. Turn them off, but don't block them. If I cut out the front grills, though, that will let even more dirt into the case. My case is on top of my desk (dogs) and always in A/C (no open windows) but it still gets dirty inside fairly quickly. So t...

Hi: OK, I ordered a Corsair VX450 power supply, a Scythe Ninja Mini and a tube of Arctic Silver 5. Thank you for your help with this. The cooler issue is crazy to me. Here we are discussing this humongous beast of a cooler, the likes of which I never knew existed until recently. A couple of weeks ago I had my parents' HTPC case open. It runs an Athlon 64 3200+. The CPU cooler was the typical box style with fan (like my current The...

An update .... while researching the fan resistor you suggested, I found out that I could safely pull the power on the case fans while the PC was on. So I did, and discovered that the makeup of the non-CPU-cooler noise was not quite what I originally thought. The front fans aren't terrible, but defi...

I apologize if I was unclear. The new PC would be in addition to this one, not in place of it. So I do want to get this thing running quieter because it still has a lot of life in it. Advice needed on new P4 Northwood cooler and case fans
Hi, all: First of all, I have to say thanks for a great site. So much quality information. I will be building a new quiet PC soon -- I can see hanging around here is going to get expensive! Anyway, before I embark on that adventure, I need to address my current PC, a P4 Northwood 3.06 HT. It sits on...
