Need help deciding which parts to buy - $200-400 upgrade
So, after just under 2 years, my desktop died, the motherboard would not post at all, and on top of that, my motherboard has a 2 year warranty, but starting from the date of manufacture, so I just missed it. Anyways, I bought the motherboard using american express(which provides an extra year of war...

Need a new harddrive(WD cavier black 500gb, or 320gb)
I am looking for a new SATA hard drive. I have been looking at the western digital 320gb platter drives or the 500gb cavier black one. I would prefer to buy from Amazon since I have some unused gift certificates. Any opinions? such as, how loud is the 500gb cavier black compared to the 640gb? Right ...

i would say, go on ebay and find the cheapest 24" all the cheap ones practically have the same stuff anyways but, it sucks that ebay went down to 20% cashback and i vote for the 16:10 option 16:10 you have a resolution of 1920*1200 16:9 you have a resolution of 1920*1080 its always better to have mo...

Idunno about your monitor, but mine accepts a video signal as input and then OUTPUTS a picture on the screen. Monitors are an output device. An example of an input device would be a keyboard. You do not input anything with a monitor, except maybe if you have a touchscreen. With regards to the compu...

Thanks for fixing the images. It's a much better read now. Did I miss something? I can't see what CPU cooler you are using. Your temps are fine but the fan speed seems a bit high. What fan do we see the reading from? I am using the stock cooler. I can't really hear it, and the temps are fine, so I ...

Ok. I fixed the images with a thumblink. I hope that would be better. I finally got all the parts up and running. I put in a 5v/12v switch for the fans, and right now they are running at 5v on high. I can not hear them over my projector fan, which is pretty loud. The psu fan is actually pretty quiet...

Try using CoreTemp to display the delta to throttling temp. It won't necessarily give an accurate temperature, but it is a reliable measure of how much headroom you have. FWIW, I have a similar system in an Antec 900 . I'm definitely interested to compare your results. when i choose the delta to tj...

If that's your idle temperatures, then I'm worried. If you've got active cooling, and your E8400 is sitting at 47C (always look at the highest core), then I'm guessing you'll be pushing 65C at load. I know this is still within processor specs, but I personally try to keep my CPUs running at 60C or ...
