Interesting. I've recently bought a completely fanless pc with the aim of putting it in the living room. Just playing about with it at the moment and so have a 2.5" internal hard drive installed (Western Digitial 1200 BEVS from memory) but the noise from it is distracting when nothing else is happen...

Although this case is a massive improvement thermally on most current mini-itx cases, I'm struggling to see the advantage. As the article suggests a picoPSU seems a must. I might as well stick with my modified Antec Aria. The footprint isn't that much bigger (269 mm x 335 mm x 200 mm versus 222 mm ...

Silverstone PT-09
I just stumbled upon this case and wondered about it from a general silent PC perspective and as an enclosure for a couple of computers I already have. http://www.silverstonetek.com/OEM/d_case.php?model=PT-09 My server is a Skt 479 MODT Intel T7200 on a Jetway J9F2 motherboard (socket 478 cooler mou...

Scythe Shuriken and Silverstone NT01 in Hoojum Cubit 3
I have the Intel DG45FC mini-ITX motherboard with an Intel Xeon E3110 (equivalent of E8400 or 8500 I believe) in the above case. I'm currently using a Zalman 7000 series cooler, but I was hoping to find something quieter. Other components in the case would be a slimline optical drive and a 2.5" hard...

Re: Recommended 2.5" external SATA-USB enclosure
If you plan to have it "permanently" attached, I'd check out esata (usb is glacial) and a case with good ventilation. And, get the largest capacity available - you can never have enough. More than likely this will be attached to an EEE PC, so USB is a must. It will only be used for music streaming,...

Recommended 2.5" external SATA-USB enclosure
I'm looking to move some of my storage to an external 2.5" hard drive. The aim is that it will be on 24/7 in my bedroom. I have identified a SATA hard drive (WD Scorpio Blue 250 GB). Can anybody recommend a USB enclosure available in the UK. My other thought was to get a USB-SATA lead and have the h...

Re: Bluray capable HTPC build
The HTPC will be based on Vista and its media center software. As he does not wish to turn on the projector to select a music track a case with a built in TFT would be nice. We've looked at the OrigenAE S16T for this matter. VFD are too small for large music collections and don't allow comfortable ...

Potential PSU
Anybody got any thoughts on this EF14 PSU, as a beefier alternative to the 120W PicoPSU? http://www.mcubed-store.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=3&products_id=245 I see it as potentially being able to drive this board with E8400 and 2 optical drives and a laptop hard drive. However, I'm a bit wor...

recommendations for a ITX case? I'm about to try with a Morex Venus 669 which hopefully should arrive over the weekend. Possibly not the best solution out of the box, and I haven't heard too much in the way of customisation. I'll be running two optical drives and a 2.5" hard drive in this one with ...
