Silent? Are you sure about that?
With all your hard drives plus 3 front intake fans... how many fans did you put up in your rig?
Even with the foam... i'm doubtful about your silent rig... you might speak about a quiet instead.

A S1 need very little air flow to cool your VGA. I have an extractor S12 fan @800rpm, a S12@600rpm for CPU, a S12@500-600rpm that you could call an "intake" fan. But the latter is only there to aim air flow to the GPU, 8800GT oced, because of the negative pressure configuration. That's why the extra...

Minor note by me. The frequencies that such a thin material will block are in the 2Khz+ range, so as such, they will largely do nothing at all to silence any computer component other than maybe capacitor whine. False. You can find fine dampping material that soften lower frequencies. What i got is ...

Nice pick up... There's nothing to add instead of adding damping material. With you current plan, you will end up by getting a really quiet rig, but to achieve a SILENT one, you should get damping material! You can get cheaper one with a little effort. Good luck. PS: I got 5mx0.5mx7mm damping materi...

If your main useage is video editing, you should consider an intel based solution because Penryn or even Conroe / Kentsfield are more energy efficient at full load. You should consider Kentsfield Q6600, one of, if not the best powerful but cheapest quad core out there. You won't got better than this...
