Re: PC-Q25 HTPC - SS X-400 does it fit?

Update: Ended up buying this Lian Li PC-Q25B setup with the Enermax Liberty ECO II 400W, which fits quite well (neede a little force to get the grill past the edge) and is very quiet. Exchanged the front 140mm fan with a Noiseblocker BlackSilentPro PK 1. I am not using the top fan, and will probably...

PC-Q25 HTPC - SS X-400 does it fit?

The plan is to build a HTPC /homeserver, quiet and with reasonable power use. Re: (another) Quiet low power home server/HTPC mITX Sandy Br

Thanks for the comments! You don't need the system drive so 4 ports would be fine if you want 4 data drives unless you want to spin them down while keeping your system up (which I do not recommend anyway: compare the time to get back from standby to the time required for drives to spin up) and are r...

(another) Quiet low power home server/HTPC mITX Sandy Bridge

I am trying to put together a build for Low idle power home server/HTPC with up to 4 drives for storage (and a system drive and room for an optical drive). Most parts are based on SPCR reviews. What I am looking for is for arguments which will help me decide for the best option for a PSU and MB, any...

Re: Cooling Asus 6850

What were your temperatures, though? At full load, my GPU gets to 60 degrees, VRMs reach 65 (is this high?) Idle (GPU 300 / Mem 300, 11.5b hotfix) I get ~46ºC with 22ºC ambient temperature. At load I run mine at a GPU 950 / Mem 1000 (=standard mem) using MSI afterburner and that is stable during an...

Re: Cooling Asus 6850

I just fitted the TTP onto my 6850. I had bend the stock VRM heatsink fins, like the person on the Asus 6850 discussion page. The cooler is much quieter, but temps aren't that much better, maybe I should remount. To quote myself: Now put some new thermal paste on (or use the one on the heatsink). I...

Re: H67, mini-ITX, 6+ SATA ??

Except one problem, is it actually coming out worldwide? Maybe you guys are getting it, but I haven't seen any sign in the US. I am also curious if the power usage is any better, it certainly can't be as bad as zotac. Has finally showed up here in the Netherlands last week, after waiting for a few ...

Re: H67, mini-ITX, 6+ SATA ??

Seemed a bit too much to open a new post for this:

The Asus P8H67-I rev 3 (non-deluxe) mentioned here seems very interesting for a HTPC/fileserver (6xSATA, digital audio out), does anyone have any idea/data on the power usage? especially compared to the Intel DH67CF (B3)?

Thanks!

Re: Help! My whole network seems capped at 1300 MTU

Found this: Some models of the GS105 support jumbo frame and some don't, and you can determine which is which from the serial number - if your switch has a serial number starting with 1FE then it supports jumbo frame upto a maximum size of 9216 bytes. Re: Asus EAH6850: does yours meet up to the review?

You have to edit the BIOS with RBE to get it to go below 20%. Mine stays there @ 1580rpm. I've only seen it go up to ~1800rpm when I maxed out Crysis Warhead. Couldn't get it to do it again... One of these days I'll do the RBE mod, but I'm just not that itching to do it right now...I'm still adjust...

Re: AMD & Asus DirectCU Radeon HD 6850 Graphics Cards

Hoping you will report on how well the Twin Turbo fits, and how it performs compared to the stock cooler. It is the same aftermarket cooler I've considered. 8x shouldn't matter at all for a card like this I think. Just installed the Twin Turbo Pro on my EAH6850, it fits, with some small adjustments...

Re: AMD & Asus DirectCU Radeon HD 6850 Graphics Cards

grijzegeest -- I don't know what your fan is running at, but many fans are subject to fair bit of variation. 10% difference in speed (at a given voltage/pwm service -- whether min or max) is not unusual. Maybe these fans have enough variance for some of us to get lucky. if software controls can't c...

Re: AMD & Asus DirectCU Radeon HD 6850 Graphics Cards

grijzegeest -- the BIOS version is right there on the gpuz screenshot on page 5. BIOS ending in 038735. I just set it up on a test platform & it is idling at around 1600rpm. BIOS unchanged since the test. It does not sound that great up close the sound is dominated by a buzz -- but this is what Lar...

Asus EAH6850: does yours meet up to the review?

Could you please vote in the poll and post a message with your EAH6850 idle fan speed (%PWM and RPM) and your exact AMD/ATI driver version? (both can be found using http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ ) Thanks! More info: This is a follow up on: http://www.silentpcreview.com/Asus_AH6850_DirectCU_VGA_C...

Re: AMD & Asus DirectCU Radeon HD 6850 Graphics Cards

Since there are now at least 3 people in the forums (and some other reviews) that have found tis card to not be as quiet as the sample SPCR received, might it be an idea to post a warning in the article? Since it is SPCR recommended at the moment? Numbers are not compelling. 3 of how many? Set up a...

Re: Radeon 6850 Undervolting Survey

Sounds like an Asus quality control issue or you 2 happen to share the same defect (b/c we know from the SPCR review that the min rpm is lower than what both of you are experiencing). If I understand correctly, flashing the bios did not enable a lower rpm. It doesn't seem like an ATI driver issue g...

Re: AMD & Asus DirectCU Radeon HD 6850 Graphics Cards

Got this card today and its very loud even at idle. Running 1750 RPM at its lowest (doesn't seem to go lower below 25% fan speed at all), even when reduced with MSI afterburner controls. Do I have a faulty one or is this really how its supposed to be :/ The noise is somewhat high pitched making it ...

Re: Radeon 6850 Undervolting Survey

As I posted on another site (of course: TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK): I also have an Asus EAH6850 which stays sufficiently cool idle that I would like to change the idle fan speed (now PWM 22%, 2049 RPM minimum) I tried changing the lower PMW fan setting from 22% to 15% (Duty cycle min %) using RBE version...

I agree with Strid. If you are not an extreme overclocker who will seriously benching and push up his hardware, no need to give extra cash for an X38 board especially that chipset is quite hot!
