UPDATE [/u] Well, I reapplied the thermal paste and when I turned the computer back on it was in a continuous reboot cycle. After reading on the net I discovered that this is a known problem for some Gigabyte P35 boards with no fix. Anyways, I returned the board (only 7 days old!) and bought an Asu...

I will ask around on that extremesystems forum and see what they have to say.

Thanks again.

I tried reading that thread...but it's really all mumbo jumbo to me I have no idea what I'm doing

Real temp shows approximately the same large difference in core temps.

Thanks Arvo, I will have a read. However, I just installed Realtemp and it shows Core 0 at 45 and Core 1 at 20 lol.

Oh well, maybe I'll try to reapply paste later this week.

Thanks!

E8400 Vastly different core temps

Hello, I know there have been issues with E8400 temp sensors, but I have significant differences in my core temps. Core 0 reads 56 idle, and Core 1 reads 25 idle. I have a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R mobo, and a Scythe Ninja RevB with 1200 rpm fan on it. Temps were tested with both Speedfan and CoreTemp. ...

Ok well I am still debating between: a) multiple 800 rpm slips with no fan controller b) multiple 1200 rpm slips and fan controller I'd rather not get a fan controller, since many of them generate heat. I am just trying to determine whether the 800rpm slips are quiet without needing to be undervolte...

Hey tutu,

Just a quick question...are your 800 slips always at 12v? I just want to know whether it's worth it to get a fan controller since you say there is no difference in sound at 5v or 12v.

Thanks!

Thanks for this. I am swaying towards the hx. All of the reviews I have read recently illustrate that it is a fine product. Perhaps the older models had problems? In any event, thanks for the info!

Corsair HX620 or Enermax Modu82 625

The quest continues for more information

Thanks everyone for their comments. It's a tough decision. I was really set on the Corsair's for the past 2-3 months, until recently when I discovered that buzzing thread. It's really up to: -Corsair HX520 or 620 -Corsair TX650 -Enermax Modu82 525 or 625 -Seasonic S12 Energy Plus 550 Enermax current...

Well I'm big time confused

I heard great things about the Corsair's, and then read about the buzzing issue here. I then looked into Seasonic and read that it was also hit and miss with noises. SPCR gave the Modu82 a great review, and now you say it's no good lol.

ahhhhh it's frustrating!

Well, I was so close to buying an HX520, and then kept reading about this buzzing situation which seems to also be in the seasonics (maybe the S12-II's or M12-II's are better?). I decided that I will not buy it since it seems to be luck of the draw. I need a PSU that is quiet. I just read SPCR's rev...

I initially wanted the Q6600 as well, but the folks here and on other forums convinced me to get the E8400. It runs much cooler, has 6MB cache, 1333 fsb, uses much less power, and as stated before beats the Q6600 in almost everything. Unless you use specialized software that takes advantage of the q...

Great info. I will get the 800's and leave them off the fan controller. I will however use the existing tri cools as intake fans (when I need them) and put those on the fan controller with the switch. That being said, I will have: -Rear exhaust 800rpm Slip Stream -Ninja Slip Stream (800 or 1200 depe...

P182 Tri Cool Replacement Choices

Well I am getting a P182 for my new system, and after reading here have chosen to replace the tri-cool fans immediately. I was also thinking of putting 1 at the front of the case to bring fresh air in. After searching, I have come down to choosing the Nexus, Noctua NF-P12-1300 or Yate Loon D12SL-12....
