thanks a lot, that is some sound advice :) I guess the S-flex are the most tried and true fans, at least in this forum. my only reservation is this post http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16393&highlight=nexus+mtbf and I quote: Scythe S-Flex Makes use of "Fluid Dynamic Bearing" tec...

thanks NeilBlanchard - that is an amazing guide and I might try and implement something like that myself, but nowadays I don't have the time to build and test. I can always undervolt these fans when I try a better configuration, but until then I think I'll take the fans as is and live with the (hope...

Quiet fans for a hot country (around 1200 rpm)
Hi all I've been reading around the forum looking for a recommendation for quiet fans, but most refer to lowering the speed of the fans to 800rpm or less. Being in the middle eastern desert ridden country that I'm in, I think I should keep my fans at full power. I don't OC so I don't need anything e...

S-flex - which speed (for TR ultima 90i)
hi all a quick question, moments away from buying a computer I'm using the TR ultima 90I (on a Q9450). There are no slipstreams in this neck of the woods so I'm going with S-flex. I wanted to ask: Should I take 800 or 1200 rpm? And if I take the faster one can I control it via software to slow down ...

yeah, israel is really strange sometimes when it comes to pricing... btw, I was in a similar problem with the mobo (which one which one?!) and ended up with the EP35C-DS3R it has buit in RAID, 4 more SATAs (you never know) and low energy consumption. it also has DDR3 support which is pretty useless,...

thanks ey51 and plekto, that's some important info. it's not easy to find a good quiet component vendor here, even if it's half a country away (that's still a 1 hour drive :) ) ame: first, longer is better, ask anyone :P about the hdd, I think what I'll do for now is use my WD 200gb JD drive for the...

For a 95W CPU like that, I know from experience that a 1200rpm Scythe fan at 5V isn't enough - 7V as a minimum(about 700-800rpm near as I can tell). I just hard-wired up my fans to 7v and turned off the sensors. I like how it is a steady soft hum all the time no matter what I do. Or you can use the...

don't look but they also have the elusive 500gb AACS... I'll be looking for comparisons to the AAKS, but that'll wait to tomorrow... I actually feel close to actually buying my computer. it's been about a month of work... but once I get some hdd answers I think I'm done :) BTW I went with the G.skil...

:) I actually found a Scythe 120mm S-Flex at tms.co.il :) not that cheap (75nis) but I guess I'll buy one for the ultima and maybe 2 more for the case fans if I can fit it into my budget. I think the only thing left is the hdd issue. the good people at the storage forum are so professional they are ...

I'm obviously missing something here... I know it's a newbie question but I'm simply exhausted from reading guides, so I'll ask it: If I buy an Ultima 90/120, I need a fan as well, right? they don't come with one and can't function without. I'm guessing you buy them a 90mm/120mm fan, are they the on...

actually there's another option... I have a WD 200JD in my current setup. I could use it for video files of projects that are in process (it should suffice) and disconnect it when I'm not working (which is most of the time) besides raw video files, is there an effect on performance to using just one...

well I most say I'm surprised... the corsair is right there on the recommended PSU list, very near the top and with grades as high as the second runner (also a corsair) I'd like to get the modu/pro 82, but they are pretty hard to find in this neck of the woods, and for the same reason pretty expensi...

two 320gb or one 500 gb WD AAKS
hi all I'm building a new computer for movie watching and editing and need a bit of advice in the storage dept. At first I thought I'll take a couple of 320 because 1)I'll need a RAID setup in the future (I'm a video editor and when HD becomes the standard here it'll help) and 2) I was always told i...

You wont hear it until your ear hits the fins lol thank you all for responding anyway I'm hardly obsessed, this is my first attempt at a quiet pc. I think I'll stick to the AC Freezer 7 Pro if it gets your blessing. same goes for the tricools... for now anyway. my budget has run dry, and if they bo...

building a quiet system - Final build, for your approval
Hi all final build for my next computer. I'll use it mostly to watch HD movies, 2D graphics (with high resolution) and video editing on Avid software (which means no ATI graphic cards) I didn't change much but what I did would make a difference, I'm sure. thanks for all the help everyone. CPU: Intel...
