Hi.

I don't really have any time to research corsairs methods [ going to Mexico in a few hours, busy ;) ] but I do remember the speedstep thing. My bios does not have that option.

Hopefully i come back witha lot of responses! Thank you.

The problem with it being far away would be that my computer is very unstable and crashes all the time. Every hour I'd have to go get up and screw with it and come back for another hour. Rinse and repeat. And back to the fan on the back, isnt it essentially like 80mm PSU's? I could direct the air to...

@ Lockheed. Yeah, I know the 520 + 620 are supposed to be very good, but the 1000W starts at a higher fan speed. I was hoping Anandtech [ Or SPCR, of course ] would review the HX850, because I would actually have an idea on how loud it is, then.. but, so far, neither have. @ DAve_M: I suppose a fan ...

@ Danimal: Sorry worded it bad. I meant the usual max is 290-305, but there were some spikes of 320W.

@ Lockheed: And Channel Well is typically louder, correct?

Don't have a Kill-A-Watt, but my RS1500VA APC UPS claims [ Furmark + Prime95 ] that its using ( With monitor off ) 320W max. [ Usually 290-305 ]

Seems reasonable?

EDIT: Forgot I had my router plugged in and a fan [that was off]. So -15W?

No, nothing wrong with either. All PSU's I've tested have the same problem except the Enermax 535W All in One. Silverstone told me it was something to do with rapid change in load.. I can't remember what they said made the noise, but they did say to lower the noise, the units response time to load c...

New PSU. Every unit I've bought based on recommendations either buzz, squeal, or have bad fans.

Only silent unit I can find it Enermax 535W, and I doubt its made anymore. Fans are slightly louder than some, but that can be fixed.

The reason would be being a well known + respected brand, higher wattage, trusted reseller, modular. ;) Hmm, I see someone brought up the "Nexus 430 vs Rosewill 430" and it does appear that they are very similar. I can get the 630W for just $70, and I have a coupon code, so I save even more.. hmm? R...

Well now I can get a HX850 for $142+ tax. Is this even worth trying? I mean.. it has a higher fan starting speed.. but.. thats tempting.

I guess its not all too much better than the $150 AR I got on the ZM850, but this has no rebates :?

Which seems like a better choice, for noise?

Ah, thank you for saying that. Guess it won't work for me then.

I need a case that can carry large GPUs + CPU heatsinks. That seems to disqualify P190's and Solo, possibly Sileo? Not sure I'd even want the Sileo though.

Looking for a new PSU - Again [ Quiet up to 400W ]

Hi again. I've gone through a few PSUs now and am getting irritated because my 4+ year old Enermax 535W beats them all. So far: Zalman 1000W = Whining under anything Silverstone 700W = Fan is ticking under low load, loud under higher load Enermax 625W = Vibrating fan OCZ ModXStream 700W = Whining un...

Thanks for the responses. The main reason I'm going for such high wattage is because in the Corsair graphs and your own testing, they show that at about 350 watts, the fan begins to spin up, and by 400 watts, the fan becomes loud. The HX620 and 520 get loud at just 350W. I assume that I will get nea...

Well it does this with both a 8800GTS 512mb + GTX 260 216 SC.

This old Enermax I had made no noise until a fan started dying.

Can someone recommend me a better one? I've read that the Antec 850W is silent. [ 80mm fan, though ]

Zalman 850W Buzzing?

Well, based off of reviews, especially those on this site, I purchased this. I was happy to see the fan was quiet. Very quiet. But then, I heard the lovely buzzing. Its terrible. If I move a window around, scroll on the internet, play games, etc... it buzzes. It also causes my GPU to buzz, which my ...

Silverstone Strider 700W [ ST70F ] Ticking + Beeping fan???

Simple background statement: I bought this PSU because it was meant to be very silent, and it is replacing a dying Enermax 535W. Also, I'm not sure if that can handle a GTX 260 / 4870 1GB ( Which I would buy the Sapphire version, which is supposedly very silent ) -----------------------------------...

I have the same annoying noise. Its very loud, and audible over 1000RPM fans. I cant quiet it at all, and I've tried a variety of things. It seems to vibrate - a lot. The drive alone shakes my case enough to make fans rattle. [ Note: These fans are in TIGHT ]. I even tried putting it on foam, and it...

Is the 750W considerably louder? It has a 120mm fan and only 1 heatpipe.

The 850 costs a lot more for being only 100W more, but its also a lot more attractive and the innards look to be of higher quality.

Argh, I just cant call myself sane spending $180 on a darned power supply.

You read it wrong ;).

its saying x 1 [Fan], 700RPM [ speed ].

So it might be a semi-loud case, but can you imagine the temperatures? Not exactly fit for a silent PC unless it can be controlled, though.

Thanks for explaining. Gotta wonder what WD is changing on those drives though :/. AKA, how would they make it a tad faster? Simply spin 5% faster, in return making it 5% faster and 5% hotter? Doubt that. More cache? Na.. hmm.. so many questions ;).

Well, to be simple, you could get a single WD6400AAKS. 640GB, high density, silent. Its also very cheap. Only $85 shipped at www.newegg.com. And don't forget, formatting. You actually have 320+160+120+37=637GB 637-6.25%*=597.2GB. This means that the other single drive will be just a few mb's extra o...
