BTW DVI and HDMI video are the EXACT SAME QUALITY, so if your motherboard or audio card has a digital out you can just link all your digital A/V up like that. It'll be a little "messier" than a single cable, but it''ll look and sound just as good.

Going back to OP's question... The larger your screen, the more resolution you'll need. Period. I just got a new 24" widescreen (1920x1200). My previous monitor was a 1280x1024 19" standard. I set the pixel ratio to 1:1, and I spent the evening enjoying my games at 1920x1200 resolution. Then at nigh...

Sorry if this has already been suggested -- don't have time to read the whole thread at the moment. However, I had this issue w/ my Q6600 previously. It turned out to be a problem with undervolting the processor. Try bumping up the voltage a step or three and see if it helps. If that's the problem, ...

Yes, Mikey's got a point. You should consider case airflow too when it comes to fully-passive or not. I've got all my stuff in a fairly cavernous P182. I think my CPU is a good 5"-6" above the PCIe 16 slot. I'm not sure why I got such a huge case, since I don't have that much stuff to put in it, but...

Just my two cents -- I think a passively-cooled CPU is overrated. If you run your CPU w/ a passive heatsink, you'll need to maintain enough overall airflow through the case itself to get decent temps, or else put up w/ higher temps. That amount of airflow will require fanspeeds -- and fan noises -- ...

My setup is pretty similar to yours. I also have a Q6600 and an ECS S1-cooled 8800GT, though my stuff sits in a P182 case. I was running just the stock intel cooler for a while, which was noisy but effective. Recently I switched to an OCZ Vanquisher, which I got on sale from ZZF w/ Google Checkout f...

from push pin to bolt-thru -- how to get pushpins out?

I'm switching from a push pin mounting kit to a bolt-through, but since the bolt-thru kit only has the backplate I need to keep the top plate from the pushpin kit. Ergo the pushpins need to go.

How do people usually do this? Do you just cut them? Or is there a way to take a push pin apart?

Any reason I shouldn't run CPU fan off fan controller?

In an attempt to strike a balance between performance and silence, I've decided to mount noisier, higher-CFM fans in my system and then attach them to a fan controller to modulate noise via undervolting. This is my setup right now: Q6600 Processor w/ OCZ Vanquisher HSF (not a super one, I know, but ...
