Re: HDD Elastic Suspension... Show your pics!
One thing though: I notice the slanted drive. I would be very careful to get those drives levelled - that seems to be pretty much the only requirement for placement of a drive. It can be on its side or upside-down, but it has to be level or the platters will have trouble spinning correctly. Worst c...

don't question the list
Just wanted to thank MikeC and everyone else at SPCR for their great work. Recently wanted to upgrade my PSU and had it down to the Corsair TX750 (not on list) and the Coolermaster Silentpro M700 (on list). Bought the Corsair based on "other" reviews that were impressed by it's quietness. Threw it i...

sw you're not alone. I have a 21" Gateway FPD2185W. It emits a whine with the brightness anywhere below 90. It's a common problem with this model. It can't be heard over normal daytime noise but is clearly audible from 3 feet in a quiet room. If you have an Nvidia card you can try using the Nvidia c...

Yeah, I know it ain't much, but for the time being it still serves the purpose. I don't game much any more (hence the 6600gt) so the system is used primarily for surfing. Getting the system cool and quiet is more a hobby than a necessity. I'm actually going to use the new parts in a new system when ...

How to get idle below 45C
First off, thanks to SPCR and it's community for all the great info. I originally just wanted to make my system a little quieter, but now I'm a little obsessive compulsive on the whole cool/quiet thing. Anyway, here's the short of it. After investing in new case fan/HSF/power supply i still can't ge...

ana A good tutorial for Speedfan usage can be found here (OK, i need to make a post before i can use URLs so just do a google search for "unitstep speedfan") Speedfan is a great app but the how-to that it comes with leaves a bit to be desired. Two tips for it's usage: 1) Placing a tick in the "Autom...
