Re: Passively cooled GPU + case fans regulated with GPU temp

...Regarding speedfan: I came across a lot of cards that did not report temps correctly and (mostly AMD) cards that could not be controlled by speedfan... It's not about controlling the card's fan, but a case fan attached to a MB header which varies its speed based on the desired GPU temperature. P...

Re: Passively cooled GPU + case fans regulated with GPU temp

...Anyway.....my main concern is HOW TO CONTROL THE FAN based on GPU temps?... Use Speedfan. http://www.silentpcreview.com/files/images/speedfan/12.jpg From http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1275-page3.html : The sensors in the Temperature tab are expandable, allowing you to pick and choose whic...

Re: Ninja SNCJ-1000 for socket 1155 with Noctua backplate -

If I'm not mistaken, LGA 1150 shares the same mounting holes configuration with LGA 1155/1156, so here is what you can do: Use the push-pins or use M4 screws, nuts and insulated washers . Hope it helps. LE: I'm not 100% sure right now, but I seem to remember that the Mugen 2 mounting kit doesn't wor...

Re: 1000rpm slowest speed for Intel fan?

It's a limitation of the fan. I wouldn't be so sure. http://s9.postimage.org/7ri722mr3/speedfan.png Read this: http://www.silentpcreview.com/SpeedFan (if you didn't already). But why do you want to run it below 1000 rpm, anyway? In my experience, at that speed the fan it's virtually inaudible.

Re: Heatsink for HD 4870

I don't know if it's (still) available in your region, but Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 rev.2 works wonders with my Sapphire HD 4870. With one or two 120mm Scythe Slipstream fans @500/700rpm strapped on it is much cooler and quieter than the original cooling apparatus. I wouldn't rely only on a case f...

Re: Underclocking ATI for dual-screen UVD

I just found this on Anandtech : On that note, for anyone who is curious about idle clockspeeds and power consumption with multiple monitors, it has not changed relative to the 6970. When using a TMDS-type monitor along with any other monitor, AMD has to raise their idle clockspeeds from 350MHz core...

Re: Underclocking ATI for dual-screen UVD

I also still don't know how to create a profile with lower clocks than I'm currently running at (450/1250). I think I've found the solution to that problem: in ATT go to Tools & Options --> General Options --> Advanced and untick the Use overclocking limits option (at 50% by default). Good luck and...

Re: Underclocking ATI for dual-screen UVD

Assuming it doesn't crash anymore, are you saying that you set the 2D profile to 160/225 and the 3D profile to full clocks (920/1375 for me) and it stays in 2D mode when playing hardware-accelerated video? Yes, in most of the cases. It works well with MPC-HC or XBMC, but with some players like Arcs...

Re: Underclocking ATI for dual-screen UVD

Running CCC AND ATT at the same time is a recipe for disaster. Just kill the CCC process from the Task Manager and make sure that it doesn't load at startup and give it another try. You don't have to manually switch profiles, in Hardware-->Auto Overclocking tick Enable auto 2D/3D overclocking with y...

... Computing activities: Surf, 1080p watching, Office tools, programming, light gaming... Light gaming on Intel® HD Graphics 3000 IGP? I think you'll need a discrete graphic card for that, a cheap one will put the IGP to shame. And yes, the i5 2500K is absolutely overkill for your needs, a cheaper...

Re: Underclocking ATI for dual-screen UVD

ATI Tray Tools is the ultimate software for ATI/AMD cards. You'll have to create an underclock profile to prevent the frequencies from ramping up at UVD levels when a hardware accelerated video is playing and ditch the useless Catalyst Control Center. My HD 4870 can play 1080p content without a hic...
