The NF-S12B is better as a case fan (great airflow/noise ratio), whereas the P12 is better when mounted on a heatsink or in a retrictive environment, like the PSU - since it has high static pressure. So I would say that yes, your configuration is excellent.

I'm really curious if antec will release some version with less wattage - maybe a 450w and a 550w? I really find this form factor to be excellent for silent operation do to the great airflow through ths psu, meaning that the fan barely spins.

For me any fan running above 800 rpm is too loud, I can here the air moving and that's equally bad as bearing noise. So running this fan at 1200 rpm is a no no. I really don't see why this fan wouldn't start at ~3v like the original NF-S12.

it's 6V Can you please tell me where did you find this info? Or did you test it yourself? If this is true it may cause some problems when using the fan for a psu, since most of them have fans that start below 4 volts. I don't like the idea of my psu temp rising until the controller will boost the v...

Thanks for sharing this info with us, RaptorZX3. I find it quite useful, even though it is more like a subjective review. Sadly I cannot find this fan at the moment here in Romania.

Thanks RaptorZX3, that's great news having in mind that the NF-P12 starts at 4.8 volts acording to spcr. I imagine that the new NF-S12B will be similar to the current NF-12S in that particular matter, meaning that it will start at ~3 volts. The 1200 rpm version seems to be perfect for a psu fan.

You do have a point about the dead spot from the rotor region, but the main problem is how to secure the fan to the heatsink. I personally don't think that you will obtain a notable improvement with this mounting.

Do you guys think that this fan will have enough static pressure in order to be used in a PSU? The old NF-S12 seemed to have some problems in this regard

Hey guys, I just finished reading the entire topic and I decided to buy the HIS. Has anyone of you tried to fit an accelero S1 (rev 2) on it? It is that plastic thing around the board that worries me, I can't even see where the gpu is located (I hope it is not under the fan in the far righthand side...

Prices are dropping for the corsair 450hx which now looks like a great value psu. With only $20 over the price of the 450vx I think this is a pretty good deal.

It looks like another great psu from corsair, but right now it's kinda expensive. Here in Romania it's priced exactly as the 520HX model.

what do you know about Cooler Master Silent Pro M500?
it is significantly cheaper than corsair and enermax, has a 135mm fan that tops at 900rpm and has the same extended warranty. I haven't found any relevant reviews.

thanks for the replies, guys. at this moment I sort of like more the enermax for the quietness, maybe I'll go for the 425w since it is cheaper. both the corsair and the enermax have 5 years warranty.

btw, is it possible that the 425w version won't be as quiet as the 625w model reviewed by spcr?

thanks for your reply. I don't think that I was very specific about the part with the load, I am sorry. Let's say that I have a system that draws 300w. Corsair 520HX vs Enermax Modu82 525w

Hi guys, I'm looking for a dead silent psu for my new rig and after reading lots of stuff from spcr and forum I ended up with these two. The enermax reviewed by spcr was the 625w model. Will those remarcable values of db hold true for the 525w version as well? I understand that a great quality of th...

New CoolerMaster Silent Pro series <16 dBA noise!

If the numbers are right, then this has got to be one of the quietest psu's out there. There are only a few reviews on the web and neither of them feature an adequate testing of the noise; they stated though that this psu was inaudible. I was going to buy the 550vx from corsair and I came across thi...
