Re: Cheap Acoustic Foam

foam w/o a mass damping layer has minimal effect. Very good point, Mike. I don't mean to spread what could be construed as misinformation. I just know that some people (like me) are going to want to buy foam whether we tell them to or not. It's just simply not as effective as buying quieter parts o...

Re: Cheap Acoustic Foam

Do they have acoustic foam that is thinner than an inch? http://www.foamforyou.com/charcoal_foam.htm#Charcoal%20Firm I am curious about your setup, what you used and what it looks like. I had a 6x6x6" foam block cut down and shoved into my extra drive bays (P180B). Along the dividing tray between t...

Re: Your opinion on "the perfect" case..

A case with good seals around the front and side panels would be a godsend. It would save me (and many others, I'm sure) a lot of time taping off holes and such if a case came along with good seals to begin with. I like a nice, simple, flat look as well. I'm rather partial to the P180B. Lots of dark...

Re: Cheap Acoustic Foam

we need more dense foams to deal with the lower frequency sounds that the fans and hard drives create. Foam For You sells Volara as well. In fact, they'll add a layer of it to any foam you buy for an extra $1/sq. foot. Beyond that, various fan noises can most certainly range beyond just low frequen...

Cheap Acoustic Foam

Hey, y'all. I don't know if anyone around here has checked out Foam For You , but they have really cheap acoustic foam (~$.80 USD/sq ft.) in a variety of colors, sizes and styles (pyramid, wedge, flat sheets, etc.) Colors cost a few cents more than plain charcoal. They even have bass blocks for the ...

The only information I could find around here is regarding their copying of the Zalman 7000. http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14653&highlight=pccooler This particular cooler (and the ...

After some digging, I've found that this is a PCCooler Red Sea Extreme. The base is (I believe) aluminum plated with copper, while the heat pipes and fins are all copper.

It's got quite an accessory kit, but I wonder how it performs.

Hi axee! From what I can tell, the S1283 has ample spacing between the fins. MikeC made note of it in his review of that heatsink. http://www.silentpcreview.com/article818-page1.html The Achilles looks nice, but it doesn't perform as well as the S1283 in most reviews. Many note that this is probably...

Sunbeam Core-Contact Freezer Questions...

I've read many reviews regarding this cooler, usually pitting it against the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 and the OCZ Vendetta 2. Generally the reviews are pretty indecisive; Frostytech rates it as its #2 cooler, while Benchmarkreviews puts it much further behind (a margin of roughly 4 degrees). I certainly w...

Its power saving settings are glorious as well. I installed the beta on my laptop and it increased my battery life from an abysmal 1 hour (fully charged) to 2.5 hours (fully charged). That's a 150% increase in battery life. I thought I was seeing things, so I sat there and let the battery run itself...

The Coolermaster Sniper has a hell of a lot of mesh on it. If you're looking for silence you should probably stay far away from it. That's a pretty good rendering Fawlters-- Kudos. This would be due, of course, to the "cool" factor that parts manufacturers...
