Just try unplugging the CPU fan and sitting in BIOS, and checking whether it makes any difference to the overall noise. My e7200 stock cooler looks the same as yours and is quite noisy, but I'm not sure if the fan is the same between different processors and the heatsink definately isn't the same as...

Was gonna say good job but looking at your HD when it's out of the case, there doesn't seem to be anything stopping it sliding out of your suspension... then I realised that the HD outside the case is an IDE and the one inside is a SATA with stretch magic wrapped around the screws to hold it in.

AC Turbo Module - questionable reliability

Hi all, just a heads up as it seems my Arctic Cooling Turbo Module on my Accelero S1 has just failed on me. I was doing some light CPU overclocking on my new e7200 and while keeping and eye on my temps, I found it funny that my GPU heated up around 4-5 degrees C. I just put it down to a coincidence ...

If it seems like its just a lack of case airflow... have you tried the Tricool on medium or high, and seen if it makes a difference there? If so then it might be worth replacing it with a fan with higher CFM such as a Scythe Slipstream, maybe undervolting it to 7V if that's adequate for the system. ...

It should be possible but note that the Accelero performs better when a case has negative pressure rather than positive.

Hi, I've ordered a lot of parts from PC Case Gear over the past 3 months and found their service to be excellent, I'd strongly recommend them over CentreCom (heard of some dodgy customer service issues going on over there). My orders from PCCG have been really well packed and they have all arrived ~...

Hmmmm, I don't know how well the epoxy holds, but even if it holds well it will put a lot less pressure between the HS/GPU compared to a proper mounting mechanism, which will result in higher temps than potentially possibly with that cooler. Also the heatsink itself is light (without the fan its 280...

Seconded on the newer Seagate HDD's being (relatively) noisy, I've got a 500GB Barracuda 7200.11 and I wish I'd gone Samsung or WD instead. Seeks are terribly noisy if it is hard mounted, soft mounting is really the only option.

Yeah another vote for the Solo from me, they're both good cases though. For non-stock cooling, since the video card is silent I'm assuming its passive, and your PSU should be very quiet, its really just the CPU and case fans. I'd recommend the Xigmatek S1283 for great value/performance, and a few ca...

Nope, no problems with mine. Sounds like something wasn't being cooled properly, maybe poor contact with the GPU and the new heatsink, and the card entered thermal shutdown after 30 seconds.

How many amps on 12V rail?

My brother wants to upgrade his video card & CPU in the future to most likely a Athlon X2 6000+ and HD4850 - how many amps will his PSU need on the 12V rail for the system to run? He doesn't have much else, one hard drive, one DVD drive and 2 case fans, but his current PSU is an old/cheap one that c...

Well, with hardware decoding on your GPU you have to be running certain media player apps that are set up to recognize that a) you have a GPU that can decode the video stream and b) you have the necessary filter (i.e. the codec) installed and it knows to use the filter for hardware acceleration inst...

Haha nice job with the binder clip! The red interior of the case goes really nice with the 4870. :) Just wondering as its a bit hard to tell from the pic, is the S1 running passive on the 4870?

Some info from Intel from IDF 2008 (via Anandtech). The article also mentions - "The mainstream drives promise up to 250MB/s reads, 70MB/s writes with a 0.15W active power and 0.06W idle power rating." - those are nice power figures! Overall throughput looks good but random reads & writes are also ...

Yes, I have a new Seagate HD, a 500GB 7200.11. Unfortunately even when suspension mounted in an Antec Solo I can still hear the seeks, although its far quieter compared to when it was hard mounted in my old case. In the past Seagate used to be quiet, but no more. Also I can't find any way to enable ...

Well if the stock cooler doesn't have any heatsinks on the VRM then I would assume it would just be the same If I replace the stock cooler with a S1 and stick a low volt fan on it? Nah the stock cooler is just one big heatsink that is supposed to cool the GPU, RAM and VRM's at the same time. On the...

Hey, I'm not sure where you're at with case fans etc, another picture to show us how its going would be good. To me it sounds with an airflow problem - not enough air going past your hard drives and through your CPU heatsink (90C is too hot for your CPU to be at load). It could possibly be other com...

You don't have the VRM/RAM heatsinks spare that came with the S1? Or did the S1 not come with the additional heatsinks when you bought it for the 3870?

Yeah I'd try isolate the noisiest components first before changing any hardware inside. Usually I'd just shut down the system, start unplugging things and seeing what difference it made to the overall volume of sound coming from the system. Just start up the computer and enter your BIOS and it shoul...

Other people seem to have success getting ATITool to run with their 4850 but it always hangs with my CPU @ 100% whenever I try to launch it. Updated graphics cards drivers haven't fixed it, I have a Sapphire 4850 if you're wondering.

I know you want to avoid aftermarket coolers for the video card however if you really want to get GPU temps down I thought I'd vouch for the Accelero S1. I just installed it to my 4850 with the turbo module (the 2 frameless 80mm fans) and it dropped idle temps from ~75ºC down to ~34ºC, and load te...

Hello,

give HWMonitor a shot, it seems to be compatible with most hardware out nowadays and reports temps for CPU, GPU and mobo sensors along with your hard drive (if it has support for S.M.A.R.T.) - a great all round app. Oh and it'll report voltages and fan speeds if you're interested in those.

Hi, you could also consider the Antec P150/Solo/Sonata Plus. Compared to the P182 both cases have their pro's and con's, there are a few threads on that on here though so I won't bother going into detail (a search through the forums should find a few good threads comparing the two). Perhaps the bigg...
