Just swap the fan, the VX450 has never been especially silent with the stock fan.

@gcwebbyuk

Thanks =)

@PhilW

I moved the PSU around so I could reach the screws, two of them. Long screwdriver is a big plus. Not easy, but I did it. Hurray!

I know, but the Orochi was only $20 (USD) new, so I couldn't resist it.

Yes, some cutting was made. About 1-2 cm of the HDD-case metal was removed.

Update. The Orochi is just stupid. Changing RAMs is now almost impossible. Removing the graphic card isnt doable either. As I can't reach the small clip that holds it in place (PCI-Express slot). I've tried sushi pins, and toothpicks (wood) but no luck. I many ways the tiny little Intel stock-cooler...

@repel No, zero front fans, just the Noctua at the back. The Orochi fan is very silent, my 800 rpm Noctua is louder. But... I didn't use the Orochi for ultra low temps, faster fans would lower them. But I really don't care, they are good enough. Anyway, my GTX 275 card and CX400W PSU are both louder...

But selling a 620W and buy a 400 or 450 isnt sensible. Maybe Corsair will take it under their 5 year warranty?

Mounting wasn't that hard, it just took some more time, and thinking. Correct tools helps too (long srewdriver) Beeding the Orochi "right" isn't really needed, my CPU idle at 31°C and tops 49°C during heavy gaming. And the slow spinning Noctua effectively draws warm air away from the pipes before ...

Overall The system has been performing well for what I need it to do. I am currently using it with an 22" TFT display. The system is very quiet not silent but definitely very quiet. the fans never goes above 800RPM. Originally I was planning on leaving out the fan and running the Orochi passively bu...

Indeed Mike, it's very heavy. And I certaintly don't want to drop the case more than 1 cm, or something will break inside. Scythe should actually include a sticker that say: "Caution heavy CPU- heatsink inside, do not drop" The Intel mounting-solution uses a backplate and bolts so it won't come off,...

any idea on what it's costing you in terms of power usage compared to your old PSU? could you have lessened the scream by ducting the PSU intake to fresh air? Power consumption at idle is up by 10W, from 105W to 115W. The scream wasnt caused by heat. More coil whine-ish type of sound. Both my CX400...

what on earth is that 1kW for though? The GTX275 can't honestly need that much power... IIRC the point was that the power use (in %) would be so low that the fan would never ramp up. I remember reading a post about that a few weeks ago, but I don't remember if it was the same person... and I can't ...

Solo with a GTX 275 -- some cutting was made

I love the Solo, but the case is now rather old and doesnt like long video cards, so I had to cut some. And voila, the GTX 275 now fits great.
