Corsair HX650 power supply sound faults
I have just initiated a return request at my local shop in virtue of two sound faults with a new Corsair HX650 power supply. SilentPCReview users will want to know and any other Corsair HX650 owners may want to add their experience. Part Number: CP-9020030-AU Part Description: Corsair HX650, 650 Wat...

Re: Is there a safe bet Z77 board?
The safe bet Z77 board, as of 2012-09-30, seems to be toss up between the Intel DZ77GA-70K and the ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE. These board satisfy my idiosyncratic requirement for an external eSata-III connection. But they might also satisfy the requirement that all of us, who visit silenctpcreview, will b...

Motherboard temperatures and cooling
I have a fairly demanding system: MSI X48C Platinum, Q9550, GTX260, 9600GT, and 3 monitors. Yet it is built with some, maybe inadequate, regard to quiet cooling, for example: * CPU Cooler: HR-01 Plus with fan; * The GTX260 is an ASUS quiet model that blows directly out the back. * The 9600GT has a T...

Consider the freeware version of XXClone . It uses file-by-file copying which is ideal for copying all your files from a smaller to larger disk. It worked without problems the one time I used it. From memory this entailed a 16GB HDD to 80GB HDD. The OS was Win2000. I don't know if anti-pirating meas...

The Scythe KAMA PWM 120mm has a sleeve bearing. From these forums I have learnt (if I have it right) that, as a general rule, you shouldn't use sleeve bearing fans in high heat situations or horizontally. From Fan Roundup #5: Attack of the 120 Scythes part of Devon Cooke & Lawrence Lee's conclusion ...

cmthomson. You might be right that no modern board have all of their headers speedfan controllable. It would be good to know whether this is true. (Somebody posted one of their boards here but then deleted it). It is helpful of you to point out that even for speedfan supported headers, some of them ...

The X bit labs fan power draw (and other results) shows that some of the fans I'm interested will draw more than 0.1 amps. The motherboard I'm eyeing off doesn't provide its fan header power rating in the specs. This route, then, is all a bit too tricky for my tastes. Your responses have saved me fr...

This is a call for any and all motherboards that have all of their fan headers controllable by speedfan. Are 3 pin Fan Y Splitters ever a problem?
Do 3 pin Fan Y splitters, where one 3-pin motherboard header drives two fans, work straightforwardly?
If the motherboard header is controllable via speedfan will it vary 2 fans attached, vai the Y splitter, in the same manner as if 1 fan is attached, without the Y splitter?
