Future-proofing gaming pc is buying strongest CPU you can afford with higher than enough for now core/thread count. ... I mostly agree with this, just compare the current performance difference between Core-i5 2500K and i7 2600K, the latter being not totally off yet. Also taking current availabilit...

I'd say try it out first, and if it's not up to your standards when used in your computer you cen get another cooler later on.

Have you tried to get advice from some forum for that game? Could possibly help you run the game in Linux! Other than that you could also do the computer dual boot with just windows and that game on one drive. Then you don't have to bother about any data collection since the only thing MS could ever...

I'm not exactly sure what you hope to do. ... Running Windows with some third party crippling software installed seems just stupid to me, but I might be wrong. As I see it there are three more or less simple options: 1. Use Win 10 as is and live with it. 2. Run Win 10, but never connect the computer...

Re: Best gaming PC in 2020

i have budget of $1000 and i want to buy a gaming PC that can play almost all major PC games. Shouldn't be a problem. You can build a $300 computer able to run just about every AAA game at 720p 30fps or better, using optimised settings, so a $1,000 computer should be no sweat. That said, a pre-buil...

While I mostly agree with the previous replies there could be some different ways of thinking: What's most important: Staying within the budget of your setup in post #1 or reaching a specific performance (possibly at a much higher cost)? You get a computer with okay 1080p performance at about the sa...

HP has designed it to not overheat, so the airflow should be sufficient in that respect. There are some openings in the front (clearly visible by the HDD in your pics) allowing air to come in that way as well as by the expansion slots. If you want to know how well the cooling performs you can use so...

Right now is definitely a bad time to build a brand new gaming PC! I wholeheartedly agree with all of Steve's advice, with one exception: Going for more than 16GB of RAM isn't bad if video editing is on the menu. (And RAM is the relatively cheap part now.) Financial (and psychological) aspects: I th...

Re: How to make a dual power input and dual power output switching power supply?

The simple solution I've seen for (server/workstation) redundancy is to have two regular PSUs mounted side by side. (A few computer cases support this.)

Why would you want two inputs and outputs from a single supply in the first case?

AMD has announced that the 400-series of chipsets will get some version of AGESA code (which is then turned into BIOS by the board manufacturer) that will allow the boards to accept Zen 3 CPUs, and that generation alone, if that BIOS is installed. It will be a one-way upgrade that can't be undone. I...

There's only dedicated places for two fans in the front.
You might be able to jury rig some fan at the 5.25" bays if you otherwise don't use these though. (MIne are occupied.)

You don't want to replace your current old stuff with other old stuff (that will need a total replacement in a year or two). A new Ryzen system is the way to go, but consider that the 3100 will need a separate graphics card! If you don't already have a graphics card and also don't need powerful grap...

The first (higher end) of next generation Ryzen will be in stores on Nov 8. About now and for the next few months is the best time to get a bargain on 3000-series Ryzen. Next gen will have higher performance, and a price to match. If you want next gen you should (must) wait about three months. By th...

A simple start and get it running tells a fair bit.
There are diagnostics tools, but most of those will either require a license and/or take to long to run. Depends a bit on what level of computer you're looking for. An old/cheap one or something higher end?

I'm not into VR, therefore I have no idea what kind of hardware is required to run it.
On top of that your desired level of performance might differ from what's considered normal.

That said, I'd expect VR will require more powerful hardware than running a regular monitor.

I don't know what computer you have or how the heatsinks are arranged, but that doesn't matter. Dust build-up on heatsinks is a problem. If you find dust on a heatsink you should try to remove it. The "canned air" isn't compressed air but buthane or some other gas. There are three potential problems...
