Another option for very slim PC / HTPC?
Hey guys, Wondering if anyone here has used this case, the Gigabyte MIB T5140: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Chassis/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=3109 It's designed to be easy to create a semi-all in one PC with, but that arm is removable, at which point it basically looks like a DVD player. H...

And the whole 'decisions for the common good' thing - that is a very slippery slope you're on. If something's for the common good, it should be good for everyone. Tell me about it! Trouble is some people (me included) might know what's good for them, (although I'm convinced that a lot don't) but th...

More on topic, I support more nuclear plants, but there's a large problem with that - what do our cars run on? They're a good part of the solution though. Fuel cells using hydrogen produced using electricity generated from nuclear power and/or battery powered vehicles, especially in cities. Clean a...

And judge56988, I'm sure it's very easy and convenient for you to say 'oh, all you people in the US, you should make these huge changes in your lifestyle'.... The answer is not to restrict people's freedoms and force them to change their lives when they themselves have done nothing wrong - this kin...

There is no reason for the cost of oil and gas to go up in any meaningful pattern anytime soon - interesting theory, given fossil fuels are a finite commodity. That's why I said anytime soon - it's hard to get a great estimate, but the general consensus is that we've used up about half the fossil f...

Hi, The costs of NOT doing anything to counteract global climate change are much higher, than changing our energy sources from old carbon to renewable! Besides, we have to change to renewable energy for other reasons: costs of oil and natural gas will continue to go up, and the security issues surr...

Nomoon, I accept that there is no conclusive evidence either way on this subject, both sides put forward a convincing case. I studied enough geology at university (30 years ago so some theories have probably changed) to know about how significantly the climate has changed over the last 500 million ...

To those of you that say, prove that our emitting CO2 into the atmosphere is not causing global warming: what those of us who do not subscribe to this theory are against is spending an enormous amount of money and resources to combat this perceived threat. It needs to be proven to really be a threat...

Yes, I do have the tower-style S1283. Thanks for confirming my thinking. Seems like the Mini Ninja is not too easy to find for sale. Are there any comparably good heatsinks that would fit the Fusion? My processor will be either an Athlon Be-2400 or maybe a E5200, so any decent heatsink shouldn't hav...

Thanks for the reply. I'll give the S1283 a try, but I'm almost positive it'll be too tall. What other smaller, high-performance heatsinks are out there? The recommended list is mostly all giant tower ones. And the only reason I'd be getting the Fusion is that a local store has a really good price o...

Heatsink for Antec Fusion
Hey guys, I've been thinking about replacing my Antec Solo with the Fusion, and I was wondering what the best/biggest heatsink that can fit in that case is. I'm guessing my Xigmatek S1283 is too big?

I've realized that it's actually the 400w PSU that comes with the case - Newegg had an incorrect picture up. I thought that Topower was a pretty good OEM for a PSU? This will be powering a very low-end system - Sempron 3000+, integrated graphics, 1 HDD - so I'm not too worried about the amps rating....

The Athenatech website lists this power supply as having 2 80mm fans. Is it really that silent? Anyone else here has any experience with this PSU? I'm thinking of getting this case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811190086) and would like to know I won't have to immediately to...

I have the passive Gigabyte HD 4550 (system in signature, basically one fan in the whole computer besides the PSU). Around 55 C idle, doesn't go up too much during load. Obviously not as powerful as the other cards mentioned but very inexpensive and two DVI ports with an HDMI->DVI adapter (or maybe ...

Stealth LPC-625F - fanless Core 2 Duo mini PC
Here it is guys. Looks like it should be a pretty darn powerful (and pretty much silent) mini computer, perhaps perfect for streaming files to.

Also, does anyone know what voltage the 120mm and 92mm Globalwin NCB fans start at? There's the Madshrimps review of the 120mm . Yes at 7v; no at 5V. I haven't tested the 3 I own. Looking at that, it seems that the Globalwin was one of the fans that ran fine at 5v, unless I'm missing something. Is ...

Help me make sure this is the real deal - 92mm Globalwin NCB
Hey guys, just wanted to ask if this fan here ( http://www.coolerguys.com/840556081920.html ) is the same as the famed 92mm Globalwin NCBearing fan? ...Apparently, they do make a 92mm version ......but I cannot find it for sale anywhere. You can get it at svc . com /ncb9225-l.html for $4.99 (remove the space) I can't find the review, but I'll buy it to replace the fan in my Zalman 9500 to see if it can move more air but quieter. Thanks. That may be another face of the QC issues that others had with this model (I recall reading about clicking). I'm actually using that CPU cooler on my desktop, without a fan. It is a beast, under full load (two instances of CPUburn) my CPU barely touches 60C, and this is with just one case fan. I think it'll definitely do the job. Whether the extra money is worth it depends on how often you plan to upgrade....

Wouldn't the hard drive be a serious bottleneck with all the other really high-performance parts? Might be worth it to get a small SSD or Velociraptor as the system drive. What will this computer be used for? The HDD would only be a bottleneck for loading times. If you think waiting an extra 5 seco...
