Re: P183 vs FT02 vs 650D vs 700D?
A vote fot FT02, mainly because I'm in the exact same situation and the FT02 seems just such an interesting upgrade. The only problem seems to be video card length, but I don't see why anyone would add a >11" vga card to a silent rig.

I'd go with the SOLO if I were you (and actually, I did). You won't have any hassle with needing long cables and you get the option of mounting the HDDs on a "bungee cord," which helps with HDD noise a lot. It really is a very good case. The only reason NOT to go with the SOLO is if you need to tink...

Don't see why any of these coolers shouldn't fit. I have a NH-U12P in my SOLO, it fits (even though it's a bit snug in there) and it's a beast. I have a GA-P35-DS3L, the dimensions are the same with your mobo and the CPU mounting location looks about the same as well. Worst case scenario: you have t...

SPCR reviews are out of date too. You can't always go on a review anyway. User opinions are good. How can a review of a product be out of date when neither the product itself nor it's requirements have changed? :? Also, how are user opinions (ie. "I have X and it's pretty quiet") better then actual...

Thanks for your reactions so far! So running the HD 4850 passive with the accellero S1 isn't a good idea. What about the passive out-of-the-box HD 4850 from gigabyte. Bit-tech reviewed it. They're very positive, but the card is also more expensive (also due to the 1GB RAM). Are there any silent out...

Noctua NH-U12P vs Sychte Mugen
I was pretty set on the Mugen (best easily available CPU cooler on the SPCR recoommended list here), but then I noticed the NH-U12P was only ~3$ more. I see the NH-U12P has been reviewed here( http://www.silentpcreview.com/article850-page1.html ) and been given a great rating, but it's not on the re...

The case arrived yesterday and I just finished installing all the bits and pieces in it (I'd have done this yesterday, but I was out of MX-2 and the store was closed by then). The Accelero fits fine in the case with a comfy 7mm wiggle room. Temps dropped from 45C @ idle to 37@idle (I haven't done an...

Ciril, If you do get the Solo, please update this thread with your findings (and measurements if possible!!). Thanks! EDIT: I took some measurements of my Solo case. It's about 25.8cm from the back edge of my video card PCB to the edge of the hard drive cage . So if your measurement of 26cm is comp...

As most obsessions, it started slowly. Amen to that. I'm pretty much in the same position as you are: Bought the PC as a budget machine with lots of power and now my place is littered with ramsinks, quiet fans and whatnot. Replaced the PSU cooler, case fans, HDD mounting and new VX450 is on the way...

Ok, Dave, I'll try to measure the distances, but first I'll have to go out and buy a ruler or something. Right now I just used an IDE cable to mark the length and then used an online ruler :D. I'm probably going to go with a P182B though. The solo costs ~110$ w/o shipping and that's just too expensi...

I'll mention just for reference: the Accelero S1 Rev2 fits perfectly on the sapphire dual-slot PCB. I don't have decent measuring device, but it's ~26cm long. Doesn't even fit in my current case. However when I put the original cooler back on (with new thermal paste) I noticed a temp drop of about 5...

Hm, no chance then. The PCB looks to be about 21cm (don't have anything decent to measure with) and the GPU is further back on this version. Here's a pic: http://www.techpowerup.com/img/08-08-09/5a.jpg edit: I guess I'll get the cooler, fit it with a fan etc and then see how long it is. If I can't g...

Ok, thanks. Now I just need to know if the card would fit in the solo. Your idea was great, but I don't actually have the solo yet. I bought (am buying I guess) my PC in two installments: first I got all the inner workings in a throwaway case with a (fairly decent I might add) 400W Fortron PSU and n...

Sapphire (dual slot) 4850 + accelero s1
Hi all
I'm looking to make a quiet case and was wondering if the Accelero S1 would fit on the non-reference dual slot 4850 made by Sapphire. Currently it's the loudest component in my PC.
If it does, will it fit in the Antec SOLO?
Thanks in advance
