Where to place fan filter?

Hey guys. Just got a new pc, its looking amazing. I want to add some fan filters so that it wouldnt be so gross on the inside after a couple of years. I got some nylon panti hoes that I plan on cutting and gluing. Now I plan on having positive pressure to keep dust out. So yeah my question is, for t...

Re: Need some server hard drives

Hey Nick, Thanks for the advice. I was planning on installing Windows server on a spare 320gb 7200rpm seagate. Wont be the fastest thing in the world, but should still be faster than the other drives. I've heard that the drives are slow. Im planning on putting everything in raid 5, and maybe using i...

Need some server hard drives

Hey guys. Im planning on building myself a nice quiet server to house all my files and such, and was wondering what would be a good 2tb hard drive to get. I was thinking of something like this . I remembered there being problems with the drives a while back. Are the sector sizes not an issue anymore...

Re: New high density 2-and-3 TB Greens from WD

or is the speed really slow? Apart what MikeC says, at anyway, if you feel uncomfortable with a WD Green, you may give a look to the newest Hitachi drives: the 5K1000.B (1TB, 1 platter, 5400rpm), the 7K1000.D (1TB, 1 platter, 7200rpm), and the 5K3000 (1.5TB, 3 platters, 5900rpm, SPCR tested and app...

Re: New high density 2-and-3 TB Greens from WD

While the WD Greens are great for storage, they are not ideal for an OS-drive. If you have the money, go with an SSD for the OS and a quiet HDD (like the WD Green or the Samsung F4) for storage. If you want a HDD for both OS and storage then I would avoid the WD Greens due to the head park feature ...

Re: New high density 2-and-3 TB Greens from WD

So I've been reading up a lot on the forums, and it seems that Samsung Spinpoint F4 2TB HD204UI is a very popular hard drive. Although I have also been looking at the wd20ears, and it seems that its a pretty kick ass drive. My only worry is that a lot of people are not advising to purchase this driv...

The Onyx appears to be a significantly slower drive. For example, sequential read is listed at 125 MB/s compared to 170 for the Intel. There is also a significant loss of capacity so it's not vastly better value. However, by sheer 'coincidence' OCZ is currently doing a killer deal on the OCZ Agilit...

I chose the OCZ over Intel because 1) I'm on an AMD platform and figured I'd have better luck with a non-Intel drive Do you have a base for that? It shouldnt be a problem since the speed of eSata is the same as Sata. Although why not just buy an internal drive and use HOTSWAP to turn off the drive?

unless your hard drives are suspended (all the cool kids are doing it 8) ) you would need to get an adapter to fit in a 3.5" bay

I currently have a 160gb drive in my macbook (im assuming single platter since it is sooo much quieter then any 500gb seagate or WD notebook drive).

How would these compare in terms of performance compared to other drives as well as sound would be interesting to see. looking forward to a review;)

Quiet hd for macbook pro

Hey guys, So i recently decided to upgrade my hard drive in my unibody 13" macbook pro. Too much vibration with a Scorpio Blue?

I just upgraded my macbook pro (13") hard drive from the stock 160 to the Scorpio blue 500gb. At first it sounded much louder when it was out of the case. However once the case was closed it was quieter, but still seemed a tad too loud for my liking, but still very quiet. I noticed that when I put p...
