Oh...and can the memory controller on the AM2+ CPU run DDR3 1333 memory? I think that the AM2+ memory controllers are limited to running DDR2 memory - that's the big difference between an AM3 and an AM2+. Thanks for the advice, Neil! I think I'm going to stick with the P182 for now on the assumption that a few years from now I'll want to put graphics cards, a RAID, or a beefier CPU inside, and then I'll need the volume... but if the assembled machine is too loud I'll give the Solo a look.

Have you tried adjusting the fan speed with the built-in fan controllers on the back side of the P182? My P182 hasn't arrived yet but from what I've seen it looks like it is wired to the case fans by default. They should be a pair of small recessed switches on the back plate, right near the top edge...
