Thanks for showing me that walle, my noise is not as loud but it's certainly the same kind. If it's as common as it seems these should as you say be promptly removed from the list. Seeing as how your replacement unit is as loud as it is I'm almost hesitant if I even dare send it back should they off...

At stock even one GTX280 is annoying, 2x285 will definitely not be quiet even idle.

As for the PSU, did you look at the recommended article section?

I've contacted Zalman's customer support twice now without getting a reply to my problem. I can't do an RMA either since I don't have the original box left. What I meant to say was that, yes on my mobo only the 4 pin headers are controllable ones, but you dont have to use 4 pin fans on them, a norma...

I see, that's a real shame that it's like that. Maybe time to invest in some 800rpm fans since I think the real silent nexus fans I have right now are slightly too loud.

Can't move the card to any other PCIe slot since the soundcard prevents it. I'm considering using the onboard audio and removing the sound card, but I'm very reluctant (considering the sound won't be as good, which would be sad). I'm probably not going to open the PSU, I don't feel I am skilled enou...

New system woes

I made a thread a little while back about making a new computer, and woe has struck. First of all the Zalman 1000W-HP Silent which was on the recommended list (at the top to boot) emits a constant high pitched whine. It's driving me absolutely up the wall. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there ...

I must say that the huge fan there really took away from the simple elegance of the case, not very pretty at all.
Then again, I'm the sort of person that doesn't appreciate LED Fans and neon colors flying out of my case. I want them clean, simple and functional. I think minimalism is beautiful.

Could you provide some screenshots from using 16bits in games like farcry 2 for instance?
I've got a hard time believing you won't see much of a difference but I'm open to change my mind.

Now I'm almost regretting that I just bought a TRUE for my i7 system. I hope there'll be a SPCR review up sometime, maybe I can trade my TRUE in.

yeah those 3 fans will def be quiet </sarcasm> http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_page/product_page/product_vga_cooler.html I can vouch for the HR-03 GT. Currently my idle temps are 44°c with the fan on minimum. Are those temperatures with a 260 or a 280? I don't want to hijack your topic, but I'm ...

I've not once missed a noisy computer. If you do there's an easy fix, turn the fans up.

Strange how you'd miss it and still be here?

From what I've gleaned in the last few days, without a doubt. Especially if you're going with the integrated graphics.

could it be that somehow other parts of your card got overheated due to lack of air? Like the memory.

sorry for posting so much in my thread. I'm just brainstorming as I get nearer the actual purchase. I was looking more at the review of the M12D and the ZM1000-HP and while the M12D is way more silent at lower wattages the ZM1000-HP seems to gain the upper hand when it gets loaded. Considering my ri...

megahalems are unfortunately unavailable here, or I would've gone for them.

I'll go with a 260 and the accelero gtx and see if I can't strap 1 or 2 120 mm fans on it instead of the stock ones.

Thank you guys again!

I'm going to give this thread a bump, since someone asked why I didn't strap one on the 260 in my build (what would voltage regulators be though?).

Why not go with Accelero S1+what ever quiet fan you like ziptied to it? I've been doing a lot of searching and I can't find anywhere that says the S1 works with the 260? If it DOES work with the 260 and provides adequate cooling with a 120mm fan strapped to it I'd definitely want to do that instead...

Ah it's not the rendering in which there's problems, but in viewports and various functions. The last two ATI cards I had have had problems with both Maya and XSI (the latest being the 2900HD). So while rendering is solely on the CPU (so far, they're developing methods for rendering on GPUs which is...

Thank you guys for the quick answers! The reason I don't go for an ATI card is that they've got a long history of drivers that tend to go very wrong when using 3D applications like XSI or Maya, I don't want to take that ride again. So for now I'm looking at 3x2gb RAM then, and probably a M12D 850W. ...

New i7 rig for rendering (3d) and gaming.

Hey guys, I might seem like a new user but I've forgotten both my old username and my password, haha. I was a hardcore lurker at any rate. My old rig died as both motherboard and graphics card simultaneously died. First of I'm both somewhat of an enthusiast gamer AND a 3D monkey. The 3D monkey I men...
