FS: AMD 4850e

I have my AMD 4850e here collecting dust. I used it for a couple of months (I really don't remember, 6 max) and overclocked it to 2.8ghz (stock being 2.5ghz) for a month or 2 in that span. It has never been run at over 140F and has generally been well taken care of. It still works, other than that t...

Anyone have the link for how many watts you *really* need?

On the SPCR forums I found a link posted by someone, which led to a *really* in depth and good article on how many watts PC's use up. This was in response to the typical n00b user thinking that he/she needs a 10000W PSU for their system, when in reality most PC's use very little power, and only the ...

Ya I don't get why Antec did that. The only thing I can think of would be to get some type of thin rubber or foam or something and put it between the fan and both the metal mount and the top of the case...might be a tight squeeze then...

To get a good video card and silence...you need to get an aftermarket cooler. May I suggest one of Arctic Cooling GPU coolers?

http://www.arctic-cooling.com/catalog/main.php?cPath=2

They have ones to fit both the Radeon 48xx and the 260 that you're thinking of.

If you're going for a fanless rig that isn't for gaming, you can make most everything fanless except that CPU, that's your biggest problem, built in video, SSD, fanless PSU...but as for the CPU this case would take care of it.

I was just browsing google for Thermalright and I stumble upon this...I then shrieked like a little girl and wet my pants.

I can see that, but I have niggling doubt such a solution would cost much more to produce, assuming no metal need be used. We'll never know I'm afraid, as I doubt this is going to be properly researched so the exact size and complexity of the screw assembly could be determined. :( Would love to kno...

What if they put some sort of thumbscrew spring rig up on pushpins? That way you could "screw" the pushpins in until they snapped into place...sound plausible?

Ya I doubt that this can run passively. Doesn't look like you have much surface area. The fan sucking air over the heatsink (or sucking air thru the heatsink is more like it) is interesting because most heatsinks today have a fan blowing air onto the heatsink...I wonder if air and pressure and such ...

Right, it's rated at 130W heat dissapation...but that's (probably) with the fan at the stock 12v which is actually extremely loud. ~1000rpm it becomes very quiet/inaudible. And here's the thing guys, I live in a house without air conditioning, so with summer coming it's going to get quite hot...like...

Was thinking about getting a new CPU heatsink and fan...

OK so right now I have a 4850e but was thinking in the future upgrading to a dual core Kuma and OC'ing a bit and I don't think my Arctic Cooling 64 Freezer Pro is going to cut it, so I want to maybe get a new heatsink. Any suggestions? I was looking at this Xigmatek http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...

OK I have nothing to add to this thread, but I just looked at the title and started laughing...I mean come on that title is awful. You should have named it "blow air over the heatsink or pull air over it" I mean blow or suck? That's awful!
