Re: Side Case fan on Accelero S1/S2?

I was using the case mount at the front of the P182. So the distance was pretty big... many inches or a foot. But i ducted the VGA area (to seperate it from the CPU area) so i thought there would be enough air flow which there wasn't. I am currently trying bringing the fan closer as well as using a ...

Re: Side Case fan on Accelero S1/S2?

i hadn't thought of bringing the fan closer, thats a good idea.

did you have to glue/tape that foam down that holds the fan?

do you use your top fan? I currently have my CPU air ported out with a push-pull so i need the top exhaust but I was curious.

Re: Recommendation for 500-600W PSU

OK i picked up the TP650 and it is quite nice! Thanks so much everyone for the help. My rig is pretty nice right now! I put quite a lot of traffic through the SPCR website and for good reason :) I recommend it to all my friends. I admit i did miss that EA430/430D thing, whoops. the EA-380D has a 4-p...

Re: Recommendation for 500-600W PSU

@quest the EA-380D has a 4-pin, at least the 430W or whatever SPCR reviewed had a 4 pin. I imagine i wont OC it enough to be an issue but It's still worrysome. To diagnose parts, i just buy replacements and return them, its usually a 5% re-stocking fee, which is pretty cheap. Its a pain though, you ...

Re: Recommendation for 500-600W PSU

wow i hadn't seen the review for the TP-750. I just tossed that one into my list because i wasn't sure about it. Unexpected but welcome! My X3-440 TDP is 95W which is probably fine on the 4-pin, OCing it on the 4 pin is probably fine too, but makes me wary. I have a M5A97 (brand new yay) which is AM...

Re: Side Case fan on Accelero S1/S2?

i was hoping to gain 2 things from this: more space for pci etc cards (esp if i go crossfire) fewer fans I know you can put fans on the S1 but then it turns into a 3 slot card. Right now I have the same and a fan bringing air into that GPU space, if I go crossfire then that would be 3 fans in the GP...

Side Case fan on Accelero S1/S2?

Hi there I was wondering if anyone had any luck with using side case fans blowing over some of the large Accellero S1/S2? I had previously tried to use the front middle fan on my P182 ( by the GPU) to blow air over my passive accellero with my 5770 but it didn't work out. I attempted using baffles e...

Re: beginning to suspect PSU for coil whine

PSUs often whine but pretty much every component (except ram i think) has the ability to start whining. I have fixed a lot of whining/broken PSUs and its usually a cap that has blown or degraded (if you open the case you can often see this!) letting noise into an inductor/transformer. The caps can b...

Recommendation for 500-600W PSU

My PSU seems to have given up the ghost and I'm looking for a new one. I have a X3 440 with an ATI 5770 I ran my system into a PSU calculator (with a ATI5870 incase i upgrade) and it recommended a 520W PSU (assuming 30% degredation which is fair because I'de want to keep my PSU for a long time). htt...

5770 + Accelero S1 Mod: Which fan to use?

My 5770 has a mode where you cut some fins and bend the heat pipe. Like this http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling/625281-radeon-5770-accelero-s2-rev1-how.html I was wondering if i should pair this with the turbo module or just with a 120 mm fan. The advantage of the turbo module is that it seems lik...

Fan curves: I can make them

I dont have any fans of note that are worth testing but at some point i plan to test some a slipstre...

but people on this board seem to have a collective assessment that s-flex has higher static pressure than the slipstream
when you say this do you think people are talking somewhat higher pressure than the slipstream 20% ish
or double the pressure?

fan/pressure needed for Accelero S1

i was wondering what fans people have put on their Accelero S1's and been satisfied with.
I know the fin spacing is quite wide so probably could get away with using a slipstream/nexus (maybe even a slipstream slim with very low pressure).
Or did people get better results with an SFlex/gentle typhoon?

Low voltage 120mm fan

Hi there im wondering if anyone knows of a very low voltage 120mm fan thats easy to find. I know one of the slipstreams (800rpm i think) starts at 2.5V.

Does anyone know of a fan with a lower starting voltage?
I dont really care much about airflow and noise for this.

soft mounting a fan creates standoff

If I soft mount a fan it stands off the case a bit, which it is supposed to do. But wont that cause a loss of airflow through my case?

do you plug that standoff?
