Original Antec Solo case with two 92mm Nexus fans, Scythe 120mm rear fan, Scythe fan controller, Nexus Value 430 power supply and MSI 5770 quiet GPU. Case is fully lined with studio limp mass vinyl, so it's way too heavy to ship. In Fort Collins.

Mental! Can you keep cool an i7 920 with that fanless monster? I think you can't. e6750 has a much lower TDP than a i7 920. I just tested my i860 in a Solo with Megahalems with Slipstream case exhaust only, at 600 rpm. Idle was low 30s C. In Prime95, temps got to upper 80s C. I turned on the CPU fa...

zyrobs thanks for the excellent post! I have recently become owner of a 5850 saphhire, however I will test it for a week or two before changing cooler just to see it has no defects in warranty purposes. I'm looking forward to your tests. My english isn't the best but if Nova had 100c on VRM with th...

Prolima on an open stand i7 920 4Ghz @ 1.36v, prime95, 22 C ambient 2x800rpm : 80 C 2x1200rpm : 75 C 2x1600rpm : 72.5 C These results seem to suggest that running fans above 1200rpm is pointless, you'll just be generating more noise. I did a similar test with my i920/Megahalems setup at 3.3GHz and ...

1. What fans would you recommend on the Megahalem? 2. How do I actually hook up 2 fans push/pull? -noob question I know but I'm wondering about do I just simply use a splitter and connect to MOBO? or do I connect one to MOBO and other molex etc? 3. What case fans would you recommend and what placem...

I have the 5850, S1 rev2, and VRM-4 in hand and will try a passive solution over the weekend. Do you guys think that the S1 alone is good enough to cool the GPU passively? (assuming that there are no problems with the VRM) Passively, as in no fan nearby blowing directly at the heatsink. mkygod, do ...

I'm considering the Corsair TX650W since it's on the Recommended list AND it's $80. The only criticism of it I can find is that it apparently has many very-long cables and is non-modular ( see image here , near bottom of page). Is the cable-management in the Antec Solo gonna provide enough room to ...

Rucker: thanks for that info - good to know your temps especially. Where did you get the limp mass vinyl you used to damp your panels? Is it available in small quantities? Concerning the i860, do other uses think its worth the extra 1/3 price increase when you could just do a mild overclock to match it? Like is it bad with heat etc to do this? Everything else seems identical with these processors. I would be curious to know. I went with the i860 over the i750 (bought...

I think I will get the Nexus Value 430W as reviewed here as the quietest PSU. The problem is the fan is under the unit. Would that cause any problem in terms of positive airflow? Does the Solo has opening at the crossbar right under where the PSU sits? Any suggestions if these parts should be repla...

I just rebuilt my DAW to allow better video work and found that with the Nexus Value 430 I ran up against a 12V rail limitation. The 9600GT and 9800GT require 24A on the 12V rail, exceeding the 20A provided by the Nexus. May or may not be a real issue, but I went with the HIS 4670 as I already had t...
