Re: Quietening a GTX460 with an HR-03 Plus

Spent a few hours last night lapping the HR-03 and I'm very pleased with the result. With an ADDA AD1212LB-A71GL @ 9V (~1350rpm?): 72C running OCCT in 31C ambients (very hot summer weather today), aka 41C delta compared to 58C before lapping and 48C with stock Cyclone cooler. :D The base is complete...

Quietening a GTX460 with an HR-03 Plus

Hi. The loudest part in my PC is the graphics card and last weekend I got around to finally quieten the damned thing. So I dusted of an old HR-03 Plus I had lying around and made a custom bracket to mount it to my GTX460. All marked out, you can see the dimensions in the pic for anyone else who migh...

I can't find reviews for those specific units either but can find different wattage ones from each line. The plot thickens... Now I don't know what to expect of these Yate Loon fans.

I wish SPCR could get some Zalman F3 samples for review.

According to Corsair the VX550 is a Channel Well OEM: XMSYellowBeard @ Tom's Hardware It might not be as good as Seasonic units but better value.

But it still uses the same fan as the TX650, as seen in the HardOCP review. It should be fairly quiet considering it's 80 Plus certified.

Those are just stock photos and not of the actual fans themselves. I e-mailed them for photos of their stock but haven't got a response yet. I read up somewhere that the curved blade version has a larger motor and runs quieter. See this pic . Apparently different shops stock different versions... Bu...

Yate Loons from Aerocooler

Does anyone have any experience with D12SL-12s from Aerocooler - are they the curved or straight blade version? Thanks.

EDIT: *Adds a link.

So clean compared to my collection.

Eww, Zalman F1s... I have to say they're amongst worst 80mm fans I've ever used. What are the white round things on the fins of one of them?

Hi again, thanks for your interest. Found some time to mess with the computer a bit. It seems the 140mm fan in the PSU wasn't to blame. Okay, maybe it wasn't that surprising considering it's a generic brand EZCool... No bulging/leaking caps and nothing looks burnt in the PSU, though I can sm...

Currently, the PSU is shrieking like a cicada. It runs a 140mm fan so I'm looking forward to when SPCR gets some samples to review. Let's hope it's just the fan and not the electronics.

Cooling: CNPS7000B-Cu and VF700-Cu at 5V. There's a single 80mm Cooler Master case fan running at ~1500RPM.

Thanks for the welcome.

The folding is rig nothing really special, an old P4C 2.8GHz and 1.5GB DDR stuffed into a modded 10-year old Dell XPS T450 case. Not on the SPCR team, at least not yet.

EDIT: Typo.

So I finally decided to stop lurking...

And register to say hello!

Been a long time reader, I love the fan and PSU reviews SPCR does.

It's getting warm here in Sydney, and my old fans are starting to die. Especially one in my folding rig that's sitting next to me screaming SHHH...

About time I got new ones, eh?
