Re: Asus E35M1-M Pro: AMD Fusion Motherboard

I'd be interested in what the power figures are for other boards - when I was last looking, Asus tended to draw more power than others. That was more fully fledged mboards, but Asus did seem to come out top fairly consistently. As you say though, definitely interesting for a low power server / htpc.

I got this case just before Christmas - it was the only matx case I could find that would fit in the cabinet I had. The only other option was putting in a Lian Li case sideways... The depth was the single reason I bought this case, albeit that everything else seemed good about it. I think there is a...

At the moment, the (very simple) plan is just staying with win7 and sharing individual folders, probably mirroring some partitions within windows, leaving the boot partition as un-raided. (H55 doesn't allow raid, so software only) Although my original plan and purpose with the build was a low power ...

Well - all up and running. Right now it is idling on the desktop. I have it at 34-35w total draw. The config is: Intel DH55TC board (matx, H55 - all stock everything) Core i3 530 (stock volt + speed, even stock heatsink + fan!) 330w Seasonic S12II bronze PSU Crucial 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz/PC3-1060...

Bit Tech are only just starting to look at power usage - they ran an article a week or so ago checking effects on power draw of various low power or "green" components and that seemed to get them interested

Hopefully they'll continue the trend.

Re: AMD 785G/240e V Intel i3

truckid - I've been thinking along the same lines as you and have been watching this thread. I was originally thinking of just a NAS/always on fileserver build, but then saw the power figures and processing power of the core i3's. On most of the reviews I've seen, the core i3 slugs it out with the o...

I did a similar build with the MSI 785GM-E45 just before xmas. 240e wasn't out so I went with a sempron 140 which I then unlocked to be dual core (suprisingly unlocking made virtually no difference to idle power draw at all, guess the 2nd core isn't powered down at all??) Anyway, there is a thread o...

This drive is definitely cheaper in europe/germany (bout 20€ less than WD GP). I've had decent luck with the original F3 1TB (which had some reliability issues). Looks like nowadays ALL damn HDDs are unreliable so it is a gamble. Warranty is 3y like WD GP, but Samsung warranty is a PITA to deal w...

I've got a full GD04 review coming up soon. So far it seems like a very nice case. Still working on the review, so please if you have any special questions or details/clearances about the case you want me to check, just drop me a PM. Jipa - I've just pm'd you asking about the exact depth of the cas...
